Dys, you seem to have two interests here than I have noticed. One is finance, watching the stock market apparently for your investments. When you aren't doing that, your other pastime is to pick on me here. I hope it elevates your own self image and makes you feel better, dys.
Yes it's true I follow your every post just so I can post a return snide remark and I host a chat room on sundays of other a2k members where we discuss options of how to dis you. Other than that I'm fine, how are you?

If thats true, and I don't actually care, but it demonstrates another facet of libs as yourself, you are groupees and don't have an individual thought on your own. You see, conservatives do think for themselves and form their own opinion. Try it sometime.

Okie, you gotta stop this. It's like when you see the kid getting picked on, and the fact that he takes it really seriously only eggs those who are picking on him to even greater heights.

There's no meeting to discuss you, sheesh, or meeting of any type.

You make up pretty much anything, so why not cars and chatrooms too, dys. Why should anyone believe anything you say. In fact I find it amazing this board has not gotten rid of you long ago? Do you have anything else to do, or do you have any credible opinion concerning anything at all? I am curious. If so, do it, otherwise, go bug somebody else. See ya later.

Actually, after thinking about it, I will go ahead and say that one of the basic tenets of modern Conservatism is NOT thinking for one's self.

Thinking for one's self may lead to conclusions that are liberal in nature. So, by the definition of modern conservatism, you're only a Conservative if, by thinking for yourself, you come up with the exact same answers as we want you to have Laughing

Some individuality!

Which side would that be? The side of "people who disagree with me?"

Seriously, though, okie: I'd like to know which side this "your side" is. Presumably, it includes dyslexia and Cycloptichorn. Apparently also blatham and Roxxxanne. Maybe Bi-Polar Bear. (Just going back in this thread.) I'm probably not included. After all, I'm European.

Anyways: what would be the common denominator for that group of people? Apart from the fact that you don't agree with them most of the time?

LOL Okie is projecting. Liberalism requires thinking for oneself.

Well, go to the 1800s for a good example. Abe Lincoln kept a Bible on his desk and freely read it and used it to make decisions. Hey, a kid can't even mention the word "God" anymore in school and he might be called down and given a talking to by the teachers. There is no denying this is a totally different world and a different culture than prevailed decades ago or early in this nation's history.

Culturally, liberalism has changed many things. And in terms of government policy, the government is now involved in so many social programs and social engineering that were unheard of long ago, blatham. You accuse me of being ignorant of history, but I don't know how you read the history books, through a prism? This is not rocket science to see this. Heck, bring it up to date a bit and go talk to a few 80 or 90 year olds and they can tell you how much things have changed in their lifetime. Fact is, we are slipping and sliding toward more and more of a nanny state, which was definitely not the case in history.

Case in point, would Graeme Frost be used to demand more money 200 years ago, when the family owns 3 vehicles and a few hundred thousand dollars worth of real estate, including commercial real estate? Terrible move by the Democrats, blatham. Besides, that family is covered already without even increasing it more.

I rain on your parade of liberal thought here and you don't know how to deal with it.

You rain on your own parade by your bizarre interpretations of events and
parroting Rush Limbaugh even to the point of attacking a permanently disable 12 year old boy with your lies. Wanna smear the two-year old girl while you are at it? Or haven't you listened to Druggie Limbaugh today?

Poll: Americans Support Children's Health Program

Despite President Bush's veto two weeks ago, seven in ten Americans still support continuing and expanding SCHIP, the State Children's Health Insurance Program.

That's according to a new poll by NPR, the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Harvard School of Public Health.

Support for reauthorizing and expanding SCHIP didn't fade much even after people heard the strongest arguments for and against adding 4 million children at a cost of $35 billion. Support for the plan stayed at 65 percent overall.

The telephone survey of 1,527 randomly selected adults was conducted between Oct. 8 to 13. The margin of error was plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Partisan Views on SCHIP

The poll found a large partisan divide on SCHIP, but it also found a good deal more bipartisanship than on issues such as Iraq.

Democrats overwhelmingly favored reauthorization (82 percent), as did independents (69 percent). But Republicans were very divided: A narrow majority (54 percent) said they support the expansion, while 41 percent were opposed.

Even in the face of bipartisan support, those seeking to override the president's veto may fall short of success. The poll shows that 64 percent of Americans favor an override. A two-thirds majority in both chambers is required for the bill to become law. A House vote is scheduled for Thursday.

Doesn't bother me. It's a winning issue with a ton of popular support.

The Dems should bring it up again, and again, and again.... the same exact bill over and over.

Bush will eventually sign it. Or, his party will get decimated in the next elections. Either way it's cool with me.

Right cyclops, and keep raising the limit too, that would maybe bring in even more voters. Raise it to a hundred grand or so.

I can't believe that ANYONE would consider a family of 4 making 40,000 as being in the middle class.

That's 2 parents working at Home Depot full time.

MSNBC just reported that polling indicates 82% want schip even if it means higher taxes. Not everyone is a scumbag who hates children.

I love how 2 or more pages of this thread has centered on okie. The fact that about 4 people are attacking okie is even better. Talk about an attack machine from the political side. You guys are your own left wing personal attack machine.

How about $45,000 - $50,000, 3 cars, a 3,000 square foot house, and a few hundred thousand worth of real estate including a commercial property?

Something that has gotten lost on everybody here, the Frost family apparently qualifies under current law, and it seems like that is not even the debate, apparently all the kicking and screaming tantrums thrown here, along with all the name calling by the Democrats is about increasing the threshold to include higher incomes yet?

Another little question here, dare I ask a question at the risk of being castigated endlessly for ever questioning a government program, what could be worse than that, but here goes anyway. If there is no qualifier on property ownership, I suppose somebody like the Frosts could own property worth a few hundred thousand more, perhaps a million or two or three, and still qualify? I honestly do not know, but seems I read somewhere that owning property was not part of the equation.

I am learning something here, nothing makes some people madder than to question their favorite government program. That is the holy grail, do not touch.
