@ehBeth,
he's a bit under the weather with the flu and out catching some sunbeams. Not that that has anything to do with his worry and fret....

Its been a while since i posted on this thread.

My son was today diagnosed with Hodkins Lymphoma.
As the doctor said, If you're gonna get cancer this is the one to get.
My son had some small lumps in his neck area and had the disease diagnosed after a biopsy on the lumps.
interestingly a blood test failed to pick up the disease 3 weeks ago. I think this is a good sign as, if the disease was advanced it would have shown up in the blood work.

An appointment at the Radiologist was available the same day as we were told the news, (today) so we have had a mad dash to our small regional city today for MRI and CT scans.

A treatment plan is not yet in place but we expect this to include chemo and/or radiation therapy.
Cure/remission rates in the early stages are remarkably high (90+%). so thats good news.
plus
He's 18 and bullet proof

@dadpad,
What a terrifying thing. You're very right about reasons for optimism though. How is your son doing?

So sorry to hear your son (and his family) have to go through this, dadpad. But very happy to hear you've caught it early!

Time to start reading up...

Tthat was a well-timed catch by you all - and good about the radiology timing for MRI and Cat scan.

Good vibes from here..

Thank you all for you good wishes.
It will take a week or so before we know which road to take. We have a 4wd and winch here so no matter the road conditions we WILL get to the other side safely.

@dadpad,
Just reading this now, dadpad. And feeling terribly sad & worried about your news. It just seems plain unfair to me. Not right! I am so sorry this has happened to your son. I can only imagine how this news has affected your family. Warmest regards to you all. I'm so glad they found the cancer in the early stages! Fingers firmly crossed for a remission!

So sorry to hear about this, DP.

Of course you are well informed re great prognosis with Hodgkins Lymphoma, but I can only imagine how worried and shocked you all are anyway.

One of my dad's brothers has had Hodgkins for as long as I can remember. He was diagnosed in the 80's and has had a good long life. He's 75+ now and still going strong.

Best of health to your son.

For peace of mind, be sure to get your daughter checked out too.

My father's mother died when my father was quite young (he was 13 I think). I now have information that she died from Hodgkins Lymphoma. She was in her early 30's.
