@Roberta,
The progression...quite apart from the wonder that there IS progress!!!!!!!.....is kind of interesting.

I wonder if it is standard, or very idiosyncratic?

Love the jumpy emoticons. Can't jump myself. Jumping by proxy.

There is progress, albeit very slow (according to me). I still have terrible throat pain. But I can eat and taste--not everything, but enough to not be bored to tears. I resumed cooking (kinda sorta) once I could enjoy what I was eating.

Tonight the menu is: salad (love it still), turkey thigh (I'll braise it and get gravy out of it), with top of the stove stuffing. I hope it doesn't suck. Never tried it before. Gave up on my muddy Pepsi. Sticking with ginger ale.

I've become addicted to apple sauce. Can't get through a day without it.

I'm seeing doctors on Wednesday--the ENT and the radiation doc. A joint meeting. I'll report on what I can eat. Maybe it's normal. Maybe not.

Then I meet with the social worker.

Still working on gathering papers--for the money. My concentration stinks, as does my stick-to-it-iveness. But I'm making progress.

Yup.....crossing fingers, toes, eyes, whatever here. . . . .

Hey there's lots of stuff to worry about getting addicted to. Apple sauce isn't one of them. Smile

(Making a mental note to organize an applesauce intervention for Roberta. I suggest around this time in about 2019.)

@littlek,
Love a bit...a lot... of applesacuse. Had it on Crimbo day.... and apple strudel is lovely too. Hey Boida - have you ever tried baking apples. (ha - I'm so not a foodie but my Granny and I used to do this when I was about 4 years old and it was very exciting cooking with Granny)

Baked Apples Stuffed With Raisins Recipe
Submitted by RecipeTips.com

Always enjoyed in the fall, but delicious anytime of the year, baked apples provide a warm and delightfully sweet treat as a dessert or snack.

Baked Apples Stuffed With Raisins Recipe (+)

Directions
Preheat oven to 350ºF.
Wash outside of apples. Remove stem and core apple to within 1/4 inch from bottom.
Peel and remove skin from top quarter of apple.
Lightly score through the skin, around outside middle of apple. Score the apples so the knife only breaks through the skin to help prevent the apple from splitting as it bakes.
Place apples in baking dish.
Mix water and lemon juice together, filling each apple with approximately 1 tablespoon of this mixture. Remaining mixture can be poured into baking dish.
Divide raisins into 4 even bunches and fill apples with raisins.
Combine sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg, mixing together thoroughly. Sprinkle into apples. If there is excess, sprinkle randomly around baking dish liquid.
Bake uncovered 35 to 45 minutes or until apples are soft.
As apples bake, baste 2 to 3 times with pan juices.
Serve warm and garnish if desired with whipped topping.

Container: 8 inch square baking dish
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 45 minutes
Serving Size: 1
Servings: 4
Enter desired servings:

Ingredients
- 4 large baking apples
- 3/4 cup water
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- 1/4 cup raisins, divided
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 cup sugar

Really simple, simpler my way ... (don't wash - my bad - k, maybe allow the apple to see the water) - de-core, score middle outside, throw all other inredients in bowl, twizzle, fill the apples where decored and bake. Cinnammon..... mmmm and nutmeg....... mmmmm..... mmmmmmmmm. SO EASY even I can do it - and they are delicious.

I can't eat raw apple (shame, love it - it doesn't love me) - but apple sauce and baked apples.... mmm mmm good. You can also stick a couple of cloves in..... good for sore teeth!

<NEVER did I think I would post a recipe> HA!

Thanks, all for the baked apple recipe and ideas. But I'll stick with the apple sauce. I'm not a big cooked apple fan--don't even like apple pie. Okay. I'm weird. Never denied it. In apple sauce, the apples are almost unidentifiable. Fine with me.

BTW, had a strange craving for raisins a while back. Nearly choked to death. A powerful reaction. Go figure.

I'm done with the paper-gathering. Now I gotta make copies and mail everything.

I'm supposed to start a small job this week. I hope it goes better than the last one. Couldn't concentrate at all.

@Roberta,
Yay! Paper work done. What a huge accomplishment. Too bad it's hard to feel any sense of joy after a chore like that, but a sense of relief is mind blowing when it has been hovering like a mosquito and is finally gone (for the time being).

Hmm, apple sauce has the same effect as a tea named Smooth Move.
That can be a good thing at my age. and probably for a young chick like you.

How's the voice? Better, I hope. As Joan Rivers says, "Can we talk?" Something interesting has come up. Time for a good yak.

Love you. Always sending good, healing thoughts your way.

Diane, Apple sauce has no such effect on me. You got problems? That's your business. As I already told you, your gossip was a giganto disappointment. Did wangle an invitation to Facebook though. I joined. I'm completely lost. Fuhblungit. Mystified. Shoulda kept my mouth shut.

JL, Thanks for the good wishes.

Bethie, you may find me, but will I find you? I'm totally lost. Got a couple of invites. Not a clue what to do or how to reach these people.

Saw the ENT and radiation doc yesterday. Everything is fine. I was worried about a couple of thing,s and my concerns were alleviated.

Went back to the hospital today for tests (blood). I'll get the results soon. My BP is low (within normal range). Cause for concern? Of course. And my BP machine broke. Sigh.

I called the landlord. May get a one week reprieve on the eviction notice. Big sigh. Don't know if I'll be getting any money. I put in a call to the person I sent the papers to, but I haven't heard back. Even if I get money, it won't be enough to carry me past the surgery--rentwise and otherwise. Another big sigh.

I don't know what I worry about more--more health or my finances. I think it's about 50-50.

Waited three hours today. I'm in a funk. Fie and phooey.
