@Roberta,
Many dirty words thrown in...grumble, grumble.

But I'm so glad your voice has made a comeback. And maybe this new social worker can help with the MRI payment issue?

@Roberta,
Hey, lots of good stuff there! Especially happy about the helpful social worker. I just know there are programs and services for you out there, but there's only so much we can do from afar.

Voice was gone yesterday, but is back today.

I need to explain about the social worker. Social workers in hospitals and clinics aren't case workers. That is, they don't handle a particular person on an ongoing basis. They largely make referrals and handle immediate issues. The one I met with made referrals. One of the places she referred me to does have case workers, and I'm hoping to get one there. She was extremely helpful, and she gave me her contact info in case I need to talk to her.

I had the MRI yesterday. Went to the hospital early so I could go to the finance office and try to arrange a partial payment plan. Instead I was reclassified based on my current income. Not only was the cost of the MRI reduced, but everything else I pay at Bellevue has been reduced by half. Very Happy

Thanks for the Chanukah wishes. I say Chappy Chanukah to those who celebrate and even to those who don't. I no longer observe religious holidays, but this one holds a special place in my heart because of the wonderful childhood memories associated with it. I loved the story of the miracle. Loved the candle-lighting with the chance for a kid to participate. Loved the potato latkes, especially if my grandmother made them. Loved the dredl. And loved the Chanukah gelt (money)--chocolate coins covered in gold foil.
