@Roberta,
Nice kvetch.

Are you allowed to use any of the topical over-the-counter oral anaesthetics?

Have a choco pudding.

We've been talking about choco pudding so much here that I've decided to make a chocolate pudding pie cake for Set's Thanksgiving. Lotsa milk, gotta be good for him. Right?

That was an brilliant kvetch. So sorry you are kvetching about how rubbish you are feeling though. Hoping today will have improved just a little. Soon can't come soon enough - but we are all so hoping it will be sooner rather than later. Hugs girl and wishing so much that you are able to eat a little today and you can keep your stength up. xx

Still waiting with you Roberta. I think part of the kvetch should be the cruelty that the cure has to make us so much sicker than the disease. That has always felt wrong to me. So wishing with the others that this miserable cure is quickly successful and all returns to normal soon.

Any kind of time frame suggested before the poor throat begins to heal?

I hope you are at least managing to keep hydrated.

@Roberta,
Sending you some focus re the editing.

How to send you nutrition, dunno. You surely need some, if even through IV.
I had hope in the aloe drinks.

I wonder if the visiting nurses' association has any feet in Manhattan, or if it costs, not that they would know the exact thing to help but they might be able to bring help requested by the docs -- or help in the communication of your real distress.

Criminy, what is wrong, well, most wrong, is the lack of email availability. I don't care how big the hospital is, there should be funds and staff.

My bc surgeon made it patently clear to email her any time with any issues, emotional or med questions. (I didn't, but appreciated her openness.) But, that was back when I had insurance. My eye surgeon came to the house at midnight to keep my eye pressure down from the upper limits it was at.. before emerg surgery. Back when I had med insurance.
I'm well aware that I can't email any doc in Abq about any present situation, though I could call, to give them that credit, and I don't have a stung throat, so I could.

It seems weird and thoughtless of them - to me - that the folks involved with rad therapy don't compensate at this particular time and condition, for a way for people to communicate.

Off of soap box, you know all that.

Well, then,

love.

I was told that I would start to feel a little improvement about a week after the treatments stopped. It's not a week yet. I assume that I'm feeling the way I should be feeling.

Don't understand why I need e-mail for this. If I thought I had a problem, I'd call the clinic where I received the treatment. I haven't called because I assume that I'm supposed to feel lousy.

I canceled an appointment I had earlier today with a speech therapist. Can't talk. Not enough energy to schlep downtown. I'll reschedule. I have a follow-up appointment for my throat on Dec. 3. I'll schlep for that.

I think I'm keeping hydrated. I'm taking pills and supplements. I eat very little. The pain continues. The coughing, choking, retching continues.

@Roberta,
Well, you would need email if you couldn't talk and were in a situation of low electrolytes from both dehydration and poor nutrition.

Maybe that isn't common. I can only guess that panic about it is. Not to natter, you don't need that.

@Roberta,
I am glad you should feel SOMETHING improve a bit after a week.

I would guess it will be very slow, as the poor tissues have had such a hard time.

Still, I imagine any improvement will be encouraging when it happens.

Roll on better weeks!!!

@Roberta,
It is very important to keep sucking on crushed ice.

Any visitors for Turkey day?

@alex240101,
I can't suck on crushed ice. Too cold.

Thanksgiving, like my birthday, will be put on hold.

Boidie, my love, you can kvetch so well that you should be teaching lessons on kvetching, along with your editing jobs.

So how soon is soon? Is there anything we can do collectively to make soon come sooner? (Sounds like one of Deb's digression threads).

Can you drink liquers? Creme de Menthe or other sweet, sticky drings sometimes help to soothe the throat and to relax. I think the tension caused by pain makes the pain even worse. I'm just sayin,' getting good and drunk might be good for what ails you, but I'm serious about the liquers, from personal experience. Rilly, trooly.

I dont know how I could have missed this thread on your travails Boida. Im sitting here quietly wishing for your best health.
You must keep the positive viewpoint and see yourself out the other side.
In less tha 3 months the hawks will be back.

Hoping for a good soonness vibe.

Perhaps we should riff on Sooners?

Rockhead, Thanks for the brothy toast.

Diane, Alcohol is much too harsh for my throat, But even if it weren't, I wouldn't drink any because of the mountain of medications I take. Even if I didn't take mountains of meds, I still wouldn't do it. Why? I don't like it, that's why. Otherwise, a wonderful idea.

Joe, Get your ear away from the wall. Thanksgiving is upon us.

farmerman, So now you know how I occupy my time when I'm not watching falcon eggs hatch. I'm looking forward to the next batch. Although you suggest a positive viewpoint, the fact is that I have neither a positive nor a negative viewpoint. I do what I need to do, see what happens, and move on. My kvetching suggests negativity, but that's on a smaller scale. Right now, I'm feeling more exhausted than negative about what's coming next--neurosurgery.

jes, You can hit on dem sooner vibes all you want. I'll feel better when I feel better. But I wouldn't object if it was sooner rather than later.
