@Roberta,
Beth, I printed the info about the patient advocacy group. I needed the phone number. I'll call this week.

I also e-mailed my social worker about some of the suggestions made here.

You guys are wonderful--but you knew that.

@Roberta,
One of the good things about the Gilda's Place team is that you can find out which resources have worked best - from the people who've used them.

Why don't you just start a thread, then everybody can enjoy what you have to say?

And welcome.

Hey Boida...

I'm off to work in a mo, so in case I don't catch up with you before you go ... hope all goes as well as it can go today and when you get back have a big long rest. Will check in when I get back. Thinking of you and sending you the biggest gentlest hugs to wrap around you through your "ack oy" day.

Love to you xxxx

Well, that was unpleasant.

Hard as a rock heavy mask preventing me from opening my eyes or moving any part of my head. Zapped.

Feh.

Izzie, I will be zapped daily, five days a week for seven weeks. So, yes, manana is day 2.

Did my mouth, throat, tongue exercises.

Has anyone tried Ensure? It seems to be in my future. Will I be able to get it down and keep it down?

My MIL has used Ensure for years. She's 90 and has never had a problem, but she also has never had your problem. I suggest you supplement it with Kyo-Green drink mix , you can get it in any health food store or on-line (Amazon has it). If you drink it hot it tastes like the traditional Japanese green tea served in tea ceremonies. It's very good for you. Hoping you will soon be feeling better...

@Roberta,
I think you will, Boita.

My grandfather used that (Ensure) as primary nutrition while he was suffering with swallowing difficulties.

@Roberta,
Robo, there is also the getting there. I worry about that, though I know despite virtual despair you have the drive. How are you doing that? Wondering if there is some organization re help on this.

Well, in the meantime, Second Ave Deli with a friend is tomorrow, is it not?

@ossobuco,
osso, Yup, the Second Ave. Deli. I'm thinking of it as my "last meal." But the fact is that I don't know how long before the side effects start to kick in.

BTW, I picked up my fluoride tray. Cute as the dickens, and a perfect fit.

Sulking about being warned to stay away from hot and cold foods. Tepid tea? Ice cream at room temperature. No matter. I spoke with a nurse today (had some questions). She assured me that I would lose the ability to distinguish tastes (not permanent), so I won't much care what I'm slurping down.

Mr. Green

osso, Not sure what you're referring to with "getting there." Do you mean to the clinic? I'll take the bus.

Jesus wept.

I mixed Ensure up with Depends.

Ensure has to be better.
