@Miller,

The students who work in the Tufts/BU dental clinics are dental students.

Hopefully they are - and hopefully they are good students who will become skilful dentists eventually. Meantime, they learn their profession under the tutelage of experienced professors. I've attended a teaching hospital for dentistry in the UK and had excellent work done. Perhaps you only know of extreme cases?

I had an impacted wisdom tooth extracted at the B.U. facility some years ago. Came in without an appointment, pointed at my swollen jaw and mumbled something about needing my head amputated pronto. Some of the best dental-surgical work was done on the spot, gratis, by eager dental students under strict supervision. If I had any complaint, it would be that they didn't send me a bill. Miller, as usual, is talking through her I-hate-everybody-especially-do-gooders hat.

@Lustig Andrei,
I suppose there can be mess ups but I only need my teeth cleaned.
I hope.

I worked closely with a rheumatology clinic and, yes, there was training going on. I taught some of the residents research technique stuff in our lab(s), and some of them were more facile with hand eye coordination than others but none of them were clinical dodos. You do hear stuff, and the only dodo I knew of was history.

Our clinicians met quite often as a group, residents and the seniors, to talk about what to do re patient problems and I think they met way more often than that re routine goings on, hallway talk. All of our head guys attended a variety of clinics, and none of them were shy.

We didn't deal with students as such, so I don't know, but I'd be surprised if they aren't well supervised re the patients.

As many know, I go to an eye clinic. It would be hard for me to recommend my surgeon more, and I'm a fair judge of that.

I've been having trouble falling asleep. Unusual for me. I think it may have something to do with my thyroid. Other symptoms abound. I gotta make an appointment.

So since I can't fall asleep, I figured I'd do some errands before I try to sleep. This way I wouldn't have to worry about getting up in time to do the errands before everything closed.

I staggered back carrying four shopping bags. I was sitting here panting and trying to catch my breath when it hit me. I forgot something. Most of the stuff I bought I could do without. What could get me off my ass and out the door again. There wasn't a damned cookie in the house. No cookies?! A person has to have cookies.

osso, I know you're gonna ask. I got chocolate rugaluch and petit fours.

I also got a box of Ritz crackers. A person can't have tomato soup without Ritz crackers.

Now I'm gonna try to sleep. Bon soir, mes amis.

Have your ever had one of those days? I'm having one. Went for my asthma appointment. One small problem. It's next week.

Got home and picked up the mail. I received a letter from a doctor at Bellevue telling me that I might have diabetes. I saw a doctor in the same department last week. He checked my last blood test. No diabetes.

I got not one but two letter from the beard of elections telling me that my last vote didn't count because I'm not a registered voter. I've been a registered voter since the sixties. I've never missed voting.

Phooey and other words that start with the same beginning sound.

@Roberta,
Personally, I'm quite intolerant of others mistakes. Now, my own aren't so intolerable. Or is that a mistake?

@Ragman,
I'm stewing over my own mistake. (wrong day). Mystified at the other stuff.

The day continued. I didn't get my 1099s from two parts of one company. One phone call to one part but me in touch with a part in India (India? Yes, India). They asked me to spell Roberta. They didn't have one of my tax numbers in the system. They're e-mailing me the form. The other part was in the US. This is gonna take more than a week.

I shoulda stood in bed.

@Roberta,
Oh poor Roberta - what a day! Do try to rest and recuperate. So unfair that all these awful things should happen. Must have held up your work too - which can't have helped when you are trying so hard to play catch-up. People can be so inefficient at times - but what can you do?

Bed sounds a good place to be on a day like this!

@Roberta,
Hey Roberta - seen you on other threads, but no indication of the state of your health! How are you feeling now? How's the asthma?

@vonny,
Tired. Eye strain. Asthma the same. No worse.

Tired, tired. I'm finishing up the third editing job. There's a proofreading job sitting on the table waiting for me. I hope I can see the pages. But I won't let a little thing like not seeing the pages stand in my way.

BTW, Happy anniversary. Enjoy your day!

@dlowan,
You can hope all you want to, Deb. It comes when it comes. The third Wed. of every month for social security. And three work weeks from the day I submit the bill for work money. Nothing can make it come faster. Nothing.

@Roberta,
Thanks for the anniversary wishes!

I can almost feel your tiredness - such a shame that you have to work so hard when your health isn't 100%. When you eyes aren't too good either. Can't be easy for you. Thinking of you - and hoping things will get better!

@vonny,
My health hasn't been good since 2003. It's never going to be 100 percent. I have to make a living. Dat's life.

I ventured out without my cane. A short trip across the street. I didn't fall down. Felt a little nekkid. But I need to find out if I still need it.

@Roberta,
How did it go? I can empathise with you! A two year old could probably walk further than I can at the present time, but I'm working on it !

Good luck with your expedition - hope you managed okay.

Back from Bellevue. Saw the asthma doc. A new one. Not a cutie. Straight out handsome. Sigh.

He doesn't think that the problems I've been having are a result of the anesthesia. He thinks they're a result of the irritation to my throat. The irritation causes mucus which goes into my lungs. It should fade.

He wants to see if the problems have had an effect on my heart. I have to go for an echo cardiogram.

He also thinks that I would benefit from physical therapy for my breathing.

I'll see him again in two months.

I'm glad I took my cane. My legs were a little shaky today.

I finished the third editing job. Now I'm doing a proofreading job. I like proofreading. Actually I'm late starting it. Playing catch-up again.

@Roberta,
It's sounding more hopeful? Physical therapy for your breathing sounds like a good idea - I've heard it can help enormously.

When do you go for the ECG? Good to have one just to make sure all is okay - or to get to the root of any problems and fix them - fast!

Lucky you - straight out handsome - why do you have all the luck with doctors while I get stuck with a grizzled old surgeon? Oh - I finally have a date for the op to remove my skin cancer - April 25th. Apprehensive, but be good to get it over with.

Less scared now I have support from you and other A2Kers!

Glad you've finished the last of the three editing jobs and are onto proofreading - don't worry, you'll catch up! How are your eyes coping with all the work? Can't be easy.
