I wasn't planning on getting another cat. But knowing I can't annoys the hell out of me. It's the ornery-oh, yeah, in me. (Incorrigible but lovable.)

Thanks for the standing up suggestions. Foist. No money for such things. Second, no need. My arms are very strong. I can usually pull myself or push myself up if I have something to lean on. The problems arise when there's nothing there. Today at the hospital I was asked to sit on a stool in the hall. I sat and then thought, uh oh. How the hell am I gonna get up. Figured it out. Put my hand on the back of the stool and pushed. Angle and depth of the seat count for a lot. But remember. I'm the person who knocked over the doctor when she asked me to push.

I think that using a cane for many years has made my arms (especially my right arm) really strong.

BTW, found out that I'm allergic to egg whites, of all things. Never knew. I don't know how the allergy manifests itself. I eat an occasional whole egg. Never noticed a thing. I don't eat meringue usually. Where else are they?

@Roberta,
lots of goofy places. Marshmallow, some cake mixes, almost all pre-baked goods including some breads, some sauces. There's a new labeling requirement that requires manufacturers to label their products that contain common allergens. Eggs is one of those allergens. You should be able to find something like, "contains eggs or egg products" on the label on any manufactured food but the best option is to read the labels.

@JPB,
Thanks for the info, J. Thing is, if I have no noticeable reaction, how concerned should I be? The doc told me not to be concerned. I'm just curious. How can a person be allergic to such a common ingredient and not know it.

Nature sure is strange.

@Roberta,
I was allergy tested a long time ago and was noted as strongly allergic to 64 things. Most of those have never panned out in my real life. Olive trees? First, I love them, love them silly, and love olives and olive oil. I never run into olive pollen. Various grasses. Grasses never make me sneeze or wheeze. And so on.
Some other positive reactions did fit, like dust mites, dogs, cats. Pacco was a hypoallergenic dog, which was lucky, as I lied on the the humane society application in order to take him home.

I haven't been tested for food allergies. Too late now, unless I have some sudden new reactions.

RH, No therapies, art or otherwise, this week. Docs were away.

Hey, Iz. How's by you, kid?

The only food allergy I knew about was a severe allergy to duck and goose. Not foods that I ate a lot to begin with. The egg white thing is a surprise.

When the doc told me about the cats, I asked about boids. She told me to stay away from pets.

I snarled.

Bunny, I'm often reasonable in a snarly sorta way.

That's like advising a duck to stay away from water, Roberta!

Olga, The only reason I don't have a pet is that I can't afford vet bills.

Deb, I guess catfish have their charms, but they lack the cuddle factor that actual felines possess.

Yes, I know, Roberta. (sigh)

But I thought you were being advised to stay right away from all critters (including birds), in any situation because of your allergies.

@msolga,
No, just no furry or feathery pets. I'm sure that I could visit someone with a bird or cat as long as I didn't hang around. I'm sure I could go to the zoo.

I think the problem is the constant presence of a pet.

I have every intention of continuing to pet dogs I see on the street.

Back from Bellevue. Saw a dermatologist. Have a thing on my cheek that was new and was bothering me. Scared. (My father had skin cancer.) This is nothing to be concerned about. They offered to freeze it off. If it's nothing to be concerned about, I'd just as soon leave myself alone. Going back in six months for a follow-up. BTW, they were thrilled that I had it checked. Very wise. Very good. Dermatology was the shortest wait I ever had at Bellevue. Who knew?

Been in a permanent state of nausea about paying bills. Called the landlord. The conversation didn't help. They're not gonna let me be behind forever. Glad I'm taking an antidepressant. Without it the nausea would be retching. I prefer nausea.

Got about an hour of sleep. I may take a nap.

And how's everything with you guys?

@Roberta,
Glad you saw a dermatologist (-- and quickly? What's with that?) Glad it was nothing to worry about.

Sorry about the continued money worries. Wish you didn't have them.

Well, my day started with an 8 am mammogram so it could only get better!

@Tai Chi,
Ouch, Tai. Good result, I'm assuming.

I think they were glad I saw them quickly on general principle. Waiting ain't good because nothing could become something. This nothing is likely to remain nothing.

@Roberta,
Sometimes nothing is a good thing.

I'll get written results in a few weeks but I'm not anticipating any problems.
