@Roberta,
Laughs a barrel of laughs - maybe he's my eye surgeon/ophthalmologist/phD's twin. I think he's young but I am sure he's passed the 45 barrier and has survived as a good and wise man, not to hero worship or anything. He enjoys me as a patient too - we fit in some good conversations - but I'm not isolated in that. There was a older (older'n me, what a kick) patient that was seen before me that I had watched and I think talked with, and I mentioned her presence of self to him, and he explained, not giving any data away, how much he liked her.

Oh, I forgot - I'm glad your throat is fine.

@ossobuco,
osso, I doubt that this doctor has reached 30. They're all babies at Bellevue, except for the residents.

@Roberta,
Cool.

The medium vision seems ok. You noticed a lot of detail about that doctor!

Saw a substitute art therapist today. The regular one is out of town.

For the last few weeks I've been drawing a lot of self portraits--different aspects of me. Last time I was there I drew the emotional me and the intelligent me. The emotional portrait was screwy weird all over the place. The intelligence one was serious. I looked away and looked back at them. The intelligence one scared me. Waaaah! I calmed down enough to call it "formidable."

Today I tried to draw the integration of those two aspects of me. Not very successful. Gotta work on it. I also drew a bunny hopping in the snow. It left footprints. Loved that bunny. Loved those footprints. Loved that picture.

This therapy continues to amaze me. How can I draw a picture of me that scares me?

@dlowan,
I've drawn a bunch of self-portraits. This is the only one that scared me. I guess I ain't that scary most of the time.

@Roberta,
Indeed.

Don't you think we all have stuff inside that scares us a little?

And someone as bright as you would scare some people.

Also, I don't know...maybe sometimes being so intelligent means that you face up to some scary things that lots of us can hide from more?

And someone as bright as you would scare some people. I think it's happened. Nothing I do on purpose.

Back from Bellevue. Saw the asthma doc. Things are slightly improved, which I knew. She thinks that acid reflux is affecting my swallowing problem. On a new med. That makes 11 daily meds. Thud.

Stopped off at the jewelry exchange before I went to Bellevue. Sold a thingie to pay the rent. I was hoping to sell it as a piece of jewelry. Was informed that it was worth more as metal. Phooey. Did not get as much as I had hoped. The guy paid me in cash. Shocked Not uncommon there. Then I went directly to Bellevue and tried to look casual. Not hard for a native New Yorker.

Relieved to be home.

@Roberta,
How are the problems with your legs? Are you starting to get some of the strength back so you can more easily stand up from the chair?

@Butrflynet,
Some days are better than others with walking. Standing up remains a challenge.

PS: The doc ran some allergy tests on me. One wow. One thing stood out far above anything else. Cats.

Shniff.

@Roberta,
For the standing up problem, do you have enough upper body strength to pull yourself up out of a chair with some kind of device designed for that, or is it more like BBB's problem where you need more of a boost from the seat to get out of the chair?

I've been looking at something like these devices to help BBB.

I don't think this one would work for her because of her torn rotator cup problems.

It might work for you when you are in your office chair working. You can keep it out of the way and just pull it over to you when you need it.

This would be better for BBB, but I'm concerned about how easily it could slide off a wooden or fabric chair while she's attempting to stand up. There is no mention of that in the catalog description.

Would something like this work on your office chair?

I think the best arrangement for BBB would be both of them, the boost from the bottom and the balance aid from the grab bars.

@msolga,
I love cats and am wildly allergic. Less now, since I am not usually around them, but horrendously in my past. So I can meet Diane and Dys' Dante, though I'll blow up if I stay over night...
Sad to say, when we remodeled which coincided with Rascal passing, aka getting rid of allergens though we didn't think of it that way - I was markedly less allergic/asthmatic.
