Very appropriate, fur face.

@Roberta,
Raboida, any man's heart would be captured by an intelligent and funny woman.

A kiss on your hand. Of course. What a lovely mental image.

Foist I have to revise my less than enthusiastic reaction to the slipcovers. When I put them on the furniture, the sun was pouring into the room, and the colors looked washed out. When the sun went down and the lights went on, the colors popped. Totally pleased now.

Here's a pic. Change the blue to blood red:

oooooooooooooooh - that looks so good - can imagine a deep red, almost burgundy, like a dark red wine, in the evening light - excellent Boida - so pleased you ordered them! Makes all the difference, a little bit of new in the room. I hope you'll be able to nap on it.

Izzie, I gotta name a plant? My trees don't have names. Won't they be offended?

nah, we just won't tell the trees they are tree's with no names Wink

so, whaddya think of "Pheodoira" philo...filllo.. Plant - heavily accented on the OI !

Love the new thread Boida, hoping that maybe someone wonderful may be able to scan a couple pics to post of the family...

I love that first pic especially, djjd -- I have an acquaintance that is a big daylily grower and distributor. I love so many of them...

We're having a heat wave.

99 degrees yesterday. 103 degrees today.

My philodendron is languishing. It already lost some leaves.

The plant that Sheila gave me is languishing.

I gave them both water.

I'm languishing. I gave me water too.

My trees are fine. They're tropical.

JPB went to all that trouble to send me a philodendron, and it's dropping leaves--dropping dead--from the heat.

Phooey.

@Roberta,
Try a spray bottle with plain water. Maybe in the heat it is transpiring faster than the roots can take up water. What you'll be doing is cooling it down and raising the humidity. If you've already got high humidity, this may not work.

Not all my ideas are great. Just some.

@Roberta,
Is it in a sunny spot? I think I recall you mentioning sunbeams... If it is then it will probably be happier if it's temporarily moved to a shadier corner until the heat passes.

No worries though. It's just a plant and I've still got my sprigs.

Roger, I don't have a spray bottle. And it's pretty humid here. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

JPB, The plant is now sitting in the shade. Thanks.

@Roberta,
Overwatering is a sin too, of course. Not sure how much so, re philodendrons. I water mine probably every four days, but it's not 99 in my house, and not at all humid.

@Roberta,
you 'bout can't overwater a philo.

I toss long cuttings off of mine into the big fish aquarium, and they grow till the snails eat them away.

they like it dim and wet.

dj, Amazingly gorgeous shots. With labels! This virtual garden is a helluva lot better than the actual one.

I moved the philo out of the sun. It has stopped dropping leaves. Of course that might be because the temperature has plummeted to 88.

@djjd62,
dj, when we were kids, we called them hollyhawks. We used to make dolls with my mom's flowers.

Know every one of those lovely flowers.

I have one of these hanging in my kitchen, Roberto. It's the only thing that I can grow.

Letty, Those little dolls are wonderful!

I have five tropical trees. They've been in the family (kinda sorta--long story) since 1965.

Changing the subject.

My underwear arrived! New--without holes and stretched out elastic. I ordered the variety pack. You have no choice in the colors. What did they send me? Two purples, a lilac, a green, and a white with purple. What are the chances that my two favorite colors (not the most common favorite colors) are featured. I will tell my art therapist tomorrow.
