@Roberta,
That drives me crazy with my transcriptions of audio and video files. My customers will sometimes say "just transcribe it verbatum" and then keep adding more specifications to the job for time synchronization codes, non-verbal audio commentary, etc., every few hours so that I have to keep going back over the same portion of material several times. I've learned to wait a day before beginning work on their jobs so that I get all the specifications trickled in and can do the transcription in just one and sometimes two passes.

Glad you are feeling up to doing editing work again, Roberta. That alone will help lift your spirits a bit.

Going back over stuff rarely happens to me. Usually the editors hold onto things until everything is ready. I think this editor wanted to give me a headstart. I can use it. It's a complicated book. The back and forth with the art will be annoying and a little time-consuming. But I won't have to go through the whole chapter, just isolated spots.

Didn't need a nap today. I guess eleven hours of sleep was enough. A good sign.

@dlowan,
Nope. The hourly fee has been the same for at least ten years. Not a lot of money.

I prefer flat fees. If I work fast, I can earn a better hourly rate. I get flat fees for proofreading. I'm fast at that, so I end up earning more per hour proofreading than I do editing.

Life is strange. Work is usually not fair. But what are the alternatives?

Insomnia. Must be the new thyroid med. I was warned this might happen. Phooey. I'm gonna try reaching the doctor (hah). Friday is not a good day. I'll try next week.

I've been in a major funk. Haven't felt like doing much of anything. Not feeling very communicative. The sleeping is hit and miss. But mostly I'm falling asleep faster. Don't think I need to contact the doctor.

I've had a few bouts of hyperactivity. A friend of mine who started taking the same medication a few years ago said that the same thing happened to her. I pruned some trees, cooked a good meal (with leftovers), cleaned a few spots in the apt, and am trying to work on a horrendous editing job. It's the one thing I don't feel hyperactive about. Aaargh!

I've been watching the Olympics and the Westminster dog show. My remote control flipping finger is in overdrive.

Ah, Roberta, this whole town is cabin-happy. I couldn't wait to get out of my apartment yesterday and as soon as I did, I couldn't wait to get back home. Was watching the Olympics yesterday afternoon, couldn't keep my eyes open, laid down for a nap ---- wide awake--
Started to do taxes ----couldn't keep me eyes open... meh.

Two firsts today.

The first first was that I went out without a hat, headband, or scarf. My hair hasn't grown in, but there's enough fuzz to cover the cut lines. There are a few spikes that will not lie down. That's why we have bobby pins. A great feeling to go outside with a nekkid head. Freedom.

The second first was that I was wearing clothes that fit. It's been a long time since that's happened. Some very generous a2kers sent me tops in the past. Some very nice ones, which I've been wearing. But the slacks mostly didn't fit. Thanks to another very generous a2ker, I now have two pairs of slacks that fit. Today I wore a black and white tweedy pair with a black knit top with a deep vee (a little cleavage never hoit anybody). It felt so good to have on clothes that fit that I actually accessorized--gold necklace (not real) and my blue topaz ring (real--a boithday present from my parents).

Since I'm a major pain in the ass about painting, my therapist suggested that I try some of the painting/clay/whatever that the hospital offers. I said yes, as long as I get help in not being a pain in the ass. Otherwise what's the pernt?

Still battling major depression and a horrific work project. I just got in a second project. Haven't opened the envelope yet, so I don't know how good or bad it will be.

I'm gonna have chicken parmagiana tonight. Lasagna manana. I made the sauce at four o'clock in the morning.

C'est tout.

@Roberta,
Good on the getting work, anyway...

Cleavage go bragh, as they never say in ireland..

blue topaz.. at some point many years ago I lost the light blue green stone in my mother's platinum engagement ring (1935). Lots of stuff wrong with that ring, but I like it, and besides, it was hers. I eventually had a blue topaz put in it.. and wear it once in a while.

You got that right. High subfreezin' I might wear earmuffs. Low subfreezing, and I'll wear a hat.

Aaaargh!

I just checked on two payments I was expecting for work I did a few weeks back. It appears that the mistake concerning NY State taking all my money hasn't been corrected. I'm supposed to get 90 percent; the state gets 10 percent. According to the info I saw, the state took it all again. I don't know how long it will take to resolve this. I'm practically down to zero; and I'm hysterical.

I'm going for a follow-up visit with the neurosurgeons tomorrow. Another glorious week.

HYSTERICAL, I tell ya!!
