@Roberta,
Ya did good, goil - more than good - you should be so proud of you. Could feel you soaring right across the pond. You'll help to make a difference to many people who aren't able to do what you've done, you spoke out for you but also you're speaking for others...

your experiences and, tho quietly, your ability to articulate with a worthy kvetch and roar at the same time - that will help you.... and others. People will listen to you now you've got your voice and a platform to make them hear you.

YOU are a star, rest of the world can see it too. We love ya Very Happy ((((Boida)))))

Izzie and all, I appreciate the vote of confidence. However, you don't know what I'm like on committees. In my life as a high-level editor at a major U.S. corporation, I served on many committees and advisory boards. I was the kiss of death. My boss took great pleasure in sending me to these things just so that I would be the one to punch holes in the "brilliant" idea that was expensive, ill-planned, and underresearched.

The corporate bigwigs hated and admired me. This didn't do much for my career.

I'm hoping that this Community Advisory Board has people with some sense. Or they will be sorry they ever asked me to join.

Remember, I'm someone who can find the downside of anything!

-----------------------------------

GOOD NEWS!!!

After 15 months of applying, I finally got accepted for Medicaid. I don't know whether this will affect my second application. Don't much care.

I can now try to pay almost $200,000 of medical bills, if I can figure out how it all works. Not worried. This is a relief!

Maybe I can get my eyes checked and get new glasses. Maybe I can go to the dentist.

Very Happy

It's about damn time. I'm glad to hear it, Boida.

And I'd love to be a fly on the wall at one of your committee meetings.

Not kvetching. This is another kind of negativity. Sorry to disappoint.

For example, a great deal of money was invested in some kinda machine that could take a part of one book and a part of another book and a part of still another (etc.) and make a new book. Every member of the group this thing was introduced to was enthusiastic--except me.

Although I doubted that a teacher would want to teach one subject from three different textbooks, I didn't mention that. Downsides of the contraption: copyright laws and royalty distribution. No one had thought of these. I did mention that it would be great for a literature compilation of short, uncopyrighted works.

The machine was never used.

@Thomas,
Not exactly pay, Thomas. Medicaid will pay my bills (very happy about this). Fact is, I wouldn'ta paid. The difference is I won't be dunned, annoyed, harassed, and generally made miserable by creditors. Cause to celebrate.

You can have the champagne, kid. I'll have some iced Pepsi.

How did the run go?

There is value to being The Voice of Doom on a committee.

I'm glad you've got Medicaid. What a concept. Bills paid, dentist awaits. I admire your tenacity.

Now playing . . .

Gone Is the Fuzz.

I got the FreshDirect gift certificate when I was taking the fuzzy-making medication. People kept telling me I didn't seem fuzzy, but I know fuzzy when I see it.

Revisited the gift certificate (I'm out of a lot of stuff). All was crystal clear. The certificate instructions made perfect sense. I got into the site. Did some browsing. I'll order later.

Now the only fuzz is on my scalp as more bald spots fill in.

(Shocked I did a job when I was taking that stuff. It couldn't have been a total disaster. I got another job.)

No fuzz?

Yippee!!!

Even with half a brain tied behind her back, she sparkles.

Now...find the downside of that.

1. Can't hide in the dark.
2. Nasty looks and bad feelings from non-sparklers.
3. Overly popular on the Fourth of July. (Hey, Mac. Get your own sparkler.)
4. Cleaning up sparkle dust.
5. Very unattractive to walk around with half a brain tied behind my back. Offsets whatever attractiveness is perceived from the sparkles.
6. I'm all alone here. No one can see me sparkling.
7. Ooky people want to sit next to me on the bus because they can read better with the light I give off.

@ossobuco,
About what? I've had plans for a book for a while. No energy to pursue it though. BTW, it has nothing to do with sparkling.

Well thank heavens for that, Roberta! That fuzz was causing you much botheration, I know.

How good to learn that the actual cause was drugs. (Me, I figured it was (perfectly understandably) the result of humongous amounts of stress, as I've said.)

But anyway, it's over!

Hooray!

Welcome back to your old self! Very Happy
