I'd love to meet and/or see again each and every one of you. Just one minor problem. Now I've got to clean!!! Oy. Thud.

This was a very loooooooooong day. Left the house at 10:20. Got home at 4:30.

First to the cashier. Only one person ahead of me in line. Cashier says hi. She's still praying for me.

Then to the Cancer Clinic to see my therapist. Run into the head of the clinic. She confirms my superstardom. I get to the front desk and get a huge, "Hi, Roberta." I had no idea anyone remembered me, let alone my first name.

I sit down to wait, and a woman comes over to me. She remembers me from the pharmacy. She brought me a chair when it looked like I was going to faint. She wants to tell me about the curative and restorative powers of Japanese wild mushrooms. She suggests I look them up online.

Then my therapist comes to get me. I have a lot to tell her about. My feeling of satisfaction after meeting with the doctors and the video. It turns out that she was the one who suggested me for the video. She's not surprised I did well.

Pain in the ass moment: I am determined to figure out why I have so few qualms about appearing, speaking, or anything elsing in public. I tell her that I know that the majority of people are uncomfortable with this. I have never been uncomfortable with this. EVER. What's in me that makes me that way? Could not come up with a satisfying answer. I will continue to ponder. She'll be away on vacation until the middle of January. Maybe by then I'll have it figured out.

Next to Mr. Occasionally Cordial. Not only did he remember me and not only was he cordial, but he was kind. Got the letter submitted and headed to the pharmacy.

There were a number of people milling around. Number up--245. My number--246. I didn't have a chance to sit down. A miracle.

I go outside for some air and to cool off my hot head (I've had a hat on since 10:20!) Too cool. I like cold weather; today it was 25 degrees. But the wind ripped through me. Went back in and headed to the MRI place which is past the pharmacy. I walked in and someone said, "Hello, Roberta." Who knows me here? The woman at the desk remembered me from the CAT scan (in another office) done in October. I waited a while and said I had to get some air. My head was hot. I was encouraged to take off my hat, which I finally did. No one ran screaming into the street.

All in all, not a bad day at Bellevue.

@Roberta,
WOW and YAY!

Boida - you've not only found you're voice but your confidence is beginning to return. So pleased you spoke to quite a few people today and went hatless.

Talking "out loud" to the public is sometimes easier, they're strangers - they don't know you're story - gives you the opportunity to say "see, looky here, this is what it feels like, this is how it is"... and they will listen - who couldn't listen to you girl. I think you would captivate them. I would LOVE to meet you.

Ah, if you could see you the way we see and hear you..... if it were that easy a? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm... where's your signature line gone!!!!!!

Very pleased for you girl. Hope you managed to get some rest after.

<now then, whens MzOlga gonna get over to the US - and are the Brits across the pond invited to the shindig at Boida's Razz)

((((((((((((Boida))))))))))))))

In the olden days I had parties for as many as twenty people here. If everybody from a2k shows up, yup, I'd need a bigger apartment. But if the folks posting here show up, I could probably manage. However, some folks would have to sit on the floor. Maybe I could stick a dust cloth on their asses and get the floor dusted and polished in one swell foop.

Note: I've been sick for a very long time. If something falls on the floor and I don't need it, it stays on the floor. Feh.

@Swimpy,
I'm also a natural public speaking type. And my Myers-Briggs shows me as an introvert (interesting), but with an enthusiast streak. Essentially, I hate mingling at parties but can lecture 2,000 people at a time. I suspect you've got similar characteristics, Miss Roberta.

PS How you feelin', sugar?

I'm not talking only about speaking. When I was a young girl, I would sing (and dance) in front of crowds at the drop of a hat. I was a pretty good singer--not so much a good dancer.

I don't hate mingling at parties, although it's not my favorite thing.

How'm I feelin'? The other day my cabdriver asked me that very question (without the "sugar"). I told him that if we drove all the way to Florida, there wouldn't be enough time for me to tell him how I'm feeling. He laughed. I meant it. In a nutshell, not great.

If I can work myself up to it, I will elaborate in another post. How you doin'?

I've decided to inflict myself on Sheila and her family on Christmas day. I've been going to her house for Christmas for over 30 years. I missed last year because of the radiation. This year I wasn't sure. Then I said to hell with it. Someone will pick me up, and someone will drive me home.

She assured me that they will all gang up on me to cheer me up. "Good," I said. "I like a challenge."

Dealing with some financial issues, and gritting my teeth about two hospital visits this week--one to the ENT docs and one to the radiation oncologist. Blechhhh.
