I'm ooommming in Houston in preparation for Sunday/Monday.
(((((Boida)))))
Prayers, good vibes, and positive karma from New Mexico, Boida, and we'll plan the tea and Oreo party when you're home and ready to rumba or rumble as the case may be.
Foxfyre, You mean to tell me that the people schlepping uphill in back of me are staring at my ass? What is this world coming to?
Thanks for the good wishes, gang.
I'm off to the hospital on Thursday to meet with the endocrinologists. The neurosurgeon already checked on the results (negative), but they don't count until the endocrine docs say so.
I'm gonna get up extra early to handle the financial crisis before I leave. It appears that some of the crisis people aren't around in the p.m.
BTW, I found the drawer with all the scarves. Closer to 20 or 30 than my original number. I'll see if I can find a couple that don't need to be ironed.

@Roberta,
We'll have a toast to your health and head scarves on Sunday. A buncha of A2K'rs toasting and vibing - mebbe we can get Set to sing a chorus or two.
Even the celebs are getting into it -- scarves for Roberta!
@jespah,
and the classic New Yorker
Foist, just got off the phone with a person who has taken over my financial crisis from the recalcitrant idiot. She made some phone calls and has put the wheels in motion to resolve the crisis. A great weight has been lifted off me. From idiot to mensch.
I will need a hat that comes down farther than a fedora--although that's a smart look. Rhoda's head schmatta, on the other hand, will provide sufficient coverage. I'm not sure how tight I'll be able to tie the damned thing, though. I may have to rely on a babushka, at least at first.
Sigh. These fashion decisions are such a trial.
Youse guys are da best. All of yiz.
@Roberta,
one alternative - the Rhoda schmatta, loosely tied, with a fedora perched on top - lightly anchoring things
~~~
I've got a coupla things that might fall into this category. Will check - if so, I will have Mr. T make a delivery.
There are also terry-cloth caps to put under scarves, to prevent slippage.
(the folks at Gilda's might be able to set you up with a couple)
Hooray & Phew, Roberta!
And about bloody time, I say! (Grrrrrr!)
Just back from the endocrine doc. I'm cleared for surgery. Not entirely clear though. I've now got thyroid problems. The thyroid gland is in the same neighborhood as my larynx. It probably got whacked during the radiation. Nothing alarming (a nice change of pace for me). She'll check it again in three months.
What is alarming is that I'm gonna have to cut back on the Oreos. Not only have I gained back some of the weight I lost, but my cholesterol is up. There is no justice in this world.
Bethie, The first link interests me. I'm not at all handy with tying. And frankly wearing two things on my head is extremely unappealing, considering that I don't like wearing even one. You is a good kid. Thanks for going to so much trouble for me.
(Still heaving sighs of relief over the financial crisis.)
Oh NO, Roberta!
This is so unfair!
(So relieved about your relief, though. Wonderful!
)
Forgot to mention something good.
I took a cab to the hospital. It was (and is) pouring and cold. Traffic was a nightmare, even by Noo Yawk standards. The driver and I became pals. He's from Mali and has a friend there with asthma. Hey, I'm an asthma expert. I mentioned various medications, all of which are alarmingly expensive. I also mentioned a nebulizer and the meds for it. (The machine is about a hundred bucks. The meds are cheap.) The driver turned off the meter!!!!!!
You coulda knocked me over with a feather, except I was sitting down.
@Roberta,
I looked at these and thought, autumn and winter are upon us. What about a scarf/wrap as the second woman has.. instead of the fedora (or with).
I used to wear regular square biggish scarves rather like Rhoda's..
