CSI vs. CSI Miami

I'm bit behind since I've just started to watch CSIM.. well, seen 20 episodes.
I wonder how many in here is angry at mr. Caruso because of Blue? Still! I think it's stupid, they are only humans like us.
Difference between CSI and CSIM (i think you have noticed this already)
that Grissom is science guy.. and even in 1x02 eppy in CSIM H says "Science is my..dicipline" (lol, i don't know if you write it in that way!)
he still is ..a cop. So, Griss works like a scienceguy and H like a cop.
Perhaps writers wanted to make it different. If characters were just like in original CSI, then everyone would be complaining "Why they had to make another show! this is like copy of it. Nothing new!"
I think CSIM is still "developing", I've watched CSI first season, first episodes lately and gosh, those are boring. I started to watch it regulary when 2nd season start... but who knows what CSIM will be if it gets on its 4th season like CSI. Watch ER 1st season and now.. it's different.. or NYPD Blue 1st-2nd season and now (it's only gotter worse!)
Very Happy

Hi Wackyducky and welcome to a2k. I'm not mad at Caruso because of what happened on NYPD Blue. His life, his decision. And I'm not suggesting that the Miami show is bad. I just think that it lacks the personality and vitality of the original.

Thank you.
I'm glad you aren't mad, I just feel some people still are. Characters in CSIM, well they are pretty lame compared to CSI, but.. I don't care. I'm pretty used to it. If you have seen films directed by man who I have in my signature, you understand why. Finns are pretty much like characters is Miami..
But there's always things that people don' t like - and others do like. It's good thing, otherwise we would be just copies Smile
and small comment to Petersen vs. Caruso.. they are both good actors. Even, i've only seen some crazy comedies where Petersen has been. But I can tell it was a shock when we noticed his legs  j/k
peace.

Hi Wacky, I never saw Peterson in comedies. I remember seeing him in Manhunter, which was a prequel to Silence of the Lambs. It was recently remade as The Red Dragon with Edward Norton playing the part that Peterson played in the original.

As for his legs, well, what can I tell ya? Maybe too much horseback riding when he was a kid.

I like CSI best followed by NCSI.

CSI has a wonderful cast of fully developed characters by outstanding actors. Everyone in that show is a winner. The writing is wonderful.

NCSI is getting close to the excellence of CSI in writing, character development and acting skills. The cast personae is very similar to the mix on CSI, which is what makes it so good. A great blend of the overly serious to the wacky supporting staff. A good, well-written show. Mark Harmon is as good as Peterson. The military locale of the story lines is interesting.

CSI Miami bores me most of the time. Kelly plays every character in which he is cast in the same manner, which really gets monotonous after a while. And that blonde arm candy is impossible to relate to. The two male supporting ensemble cast are the best of the lot, but they can't save a really poorly written, badly acted show.

I think the goofy comedy where I saw Petersen was "Cousins" 1989.
Sorry, if I used plural. And yeah, perhaps it was the horse riding, who knows..
BumbleBee... there is not anyone called Kelly. Question: What on earth is NCSI? and... Why do you watch CSI Miami if it bores you?
And one more thing - bad actors/actresses don't win awards.

WackyDucky
WackyDucky, thanks for catching my name error. It is David Caruso I meant to say instead of Kelly. Embarrassed

http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0000325/

NCSI is Navy CSI:

http://www.cbs.com/primetime/navy_ncis/

As for CSI Miami, if nothing better in on, I will watch it.

What do you find comendable about CSI Miami?

As far as winning awards, never underestimate the appreciation of good script writing and acting by the public. How else do you explain comedy sit-coms?

And---welcome to Able2Know, WackyDucky, glad to have you here. We have a wacky wabbit here and need a wacky ducky for fair and balance.

BBB, I watched NCSI once. I wasn't crazy about it.

Wacky, Sorry to disagree with you, but bad actors and actresses occasionally do win awards.

Thank you for welcomes, BBB.
Alright, I've never heard of Navy CSI but it's all because I live other side the world and never check CBS website because it's so slow. It never gets here, I know that but I will check out the site.
It just sounds something what I wouldb't be intrested in. Navy, blah because it's not a big thing in here.
CSI Miami, I don' tknow, I just get stuck with these shows. Even I am DC fan, I can tell when I compare 1st season of CSI Miami and CSI 3rd season, original is better. But those really are two shows what either bore you or ya love them.
Roberta, Ok, I admit it, bad actors/actresses DO win awards.
and yeah, Mr. Caruso did much better job in Blue and he got an award. But don't think he would deserve it from CSIM, none of them. But in origianl CSI, only Helgenberg (was that the name?) should get the award.

Well, I'm weird, I have always liked shows no one else does. I watch shows what my friends doesn't.. none of my friends ever watched Blue.

and for the wacky wabbit....
IT*S A WABBIT SEASON! Smile

For BBB,
about that Navy thing...it's not CSI... its NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service)
different producers, different writers. It seems the idea is *the same* but still, not part of CSI family Smile

Hiya Wacky, You've been doing a bit of Web surfing. Thanks for filling us in on the correct title. If you're watching CSI and CSI Miami, you're watching shows that are very popular.

Wacky, you are right. (my brain must be getting old just like the rest of me.)

NAVY NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) is an action drama, inspired by the hit series JAG, about a team of special agents whose mission is to investigate any crime that has a shred of evidence connected to Navy and Marine Corps personnel, regardless of rank or position.

Leading this team that operates outside of the military chain of command is NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), a highly skilled investigator and interrogator who is smart, tough and willing to bend the rules to get the job done.

Working under Gibbs is Special Agent Anthony Dinozzo (Michael Weatherly), a former homicide detective who joined NCIS just a few years ago, but who has instincts that come only from working on the streets.

Joining them are Agent Katie Todd (Sasha Alexander), a tough former Secret Service agent who's gone head-to-head with Gibbs in the past, and forensics specialist Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette), a gifted scientist whose dark wit matches her goth-style hair and clothes. Assisting the team is medical examiner Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard (David McCallum), who knows it all because he's seen it all.

From murder and espionage to terrorism and stolen submarines, these special agents travel the globe to investigate all crimes with Navy or Marine Corps ties.

Although the plots are similar and the format is similar, I believe that CSI is far superior to CSI Miami. The reason? Characters. The characters on the original show are real people (more or less), idiosyncratic and identifiable. The characters on the spinoff are ciphers. No personality. Nothing that distinguishes one from the other.

Agree? Disagree?

I BELIEVE THAT CSI MIAMI IS MUCH BETTER THAN CSI. HIRATIO IS SO HOT! Cool I THINK THEY SHOULD BRING OUT A MOVIE DONT YOU!

Hi pscod and welcome. Hot is in the eye of the beholder. I thought David Caruso was hot on NYPD Blue. Now only luke warm on CSI.

Mac, So they decided on NYC. I wonder who'll be in the new show.

<bump>

I love both CSI series. Maybe, I'm alone with this opinion but: CSI Miami is much, much better than CSI Las Vegas.
David Caruso and his team, they are very excellent actors. As well as Caruso lead it brilliant. He is not a loner. Also the cases are very thrilling and the surroundings is unique.
The combination is perfect.
In total this serie is a masterwork.

The team of Las Vegas are someway so lame. Not much to say.

Let's wait, how will be CSI NewYork . Gary Sinise as main actor. I don't think, that is good. Sinise is actually a actor for the criminals caracters, not a detective.

Thok, Gary Sinise is an excellent actor and has had many roles. I'm trying to figure out which one you're thinking of that would lead you to think he plays only criminal parts. Was it Ransom? It certainly wasn't Forrest Gump or Of Mice and Men.

Interesting that you find the setting of Miami to be more "exotic" than that of Las Vegas. I guess everything is relative.

As for the CSI/CSI Miami comparison, I can't agree, but that's what opinion is about. You've got yours, and I've got mine.

well, that's also a matter of opinion. It was "Snake Eyes " , but I watched also his other roles. However, I think that he is better for the crimial roles.

CSI
2 be honest csi miami, was my fave, but ever since speed has died most of the humour and sarcasm left and we ended up with horatio's corny one liners. Csi NY, i dunno, i reckon gary sinese is 2 good an actor to be in CSI NY, its all very dull and grey.

I LOVE CSI! leggo my greggo........ lol, im gonna leave sum of my fave quotes, i doughtb anyone will reply cos the last post was from last year, but anyways

Sara: "I'm looking for Catherine Willows"
Catherine: "She's out in the field."
(there's another line here but on the site it didn't really say, it was very vague)
Catherine: ", Your Sara Sidle, right."
Sara: "I know who I am. You seem a little confused."

Nick: Well it can occur from excessive masterbation which would lower the production rate of sperm.
Warrick: Yeah, you would know Spanky.

Greg: 99 bottles of beer on the wall, 99 bottles of beer, swab one down, run it through CODIS, 98 bottles of beer on the wall.

Catherine:I don't have to run any tests. You cannot absorb enough cocaine through your penis to OD
Grissom: Cite your source
Catherine: I don't have one!
Grissom: That's why we did the tests
Catherine: whatever!

Catherine: You can't consume Spam through your penis. And if you ask me to cite my sorce....
Grissom: Don't worry, I won't.

Grissom: Have you ever wondered how fortune cookies are made?
Nick (Shoots his hand up): I know this one!
Sara: Of course you do

Nick-Since when do you surf Greg.
Greg- I surf all the time.
Nick-Vegas is three hundered miles from the nearest beach
