Will of the people on Iraq

Reply Tue 22 May, 2007 02:22 pm
Bush and our congress are not following the will of the American People; make plans to get our troops home.

I believe some in congress has suggested reversing the authorization to go to war in Iraq, but that seems to have met a deadend.

What other options does the American people have to make our government follow the will of the people? It seems obvious, the continuation of funding this war will only get more of our soldiers killed and maimed for a goal that's not even articulated. The only excuse Bush has is "we must fight them there, so we won't have to fight them here." How, exactly, are the terrorists going to come here to fight us?

They will probably fly first class to Mexico City, where they will buy guns and ammo and then rent some Mercedes and drive to Tijuana where they will walk through one of the many tunnels that have been, are being, and will be dug under the border. Or, perhaps they will hire a coyote to bus them over.

Cut and run vs what? Stay the course? How long is long enough to keep getting our military killed and maimed for a goal that's not articulated by the person responsible?

Bush spent over 300 million dollars to build the largest US embassy in Iraq. It looks like he's planning on "permanent" without telling the American People his real plan.

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to sacrifice my children for this illegal war that sees no end.

"Cut and run" only makes the right look even more ludicrous everytime they utter it. But then again, how else are you gonna pander to your shrinking, delusional base?

McG, Have you tried to board a plane at any of those airports? Your ignorance is showing.

All airports must comply with international standards of security - even Bogata. Once in the Mexico, they must go through their customs; standard rules must be followed, or they will be restricted from all international air space.

How many illegal terrorists do you think will be successful in penetrating all the airport security and coming across the borders of the US?

1) Our boarders are not secure. Therefore, it is not too hard to get inside the US. The only reason we have not been attacked again is because the "terrorists", for some reason, have decided not to attack us....yet.

2) This police atction we are involved in now in Iraq is Un-Constitutional and Congress and the Administration should be impeached for allowing Iraq to turn from a War against the Iraqi Govt to Nation Building and Police action.

Only shocked that you seem to be that clueless as to how Washington works, especially when a veto-proof Congress doesn't exist.

Which makes your "cut and run" label in regards to principles that much more absurd.

Many Dems will vote against this, and that's a good thing. It will only add more pressure on Bush as the war goes on, with over half a trillion spent and over 3,500 American lives lost. There will be more opportunities with more appropriation bills, and more opportunities as well to pressure Republicans.

Welcome to politics in the 21st Century.

woiyo, I never claimed our borders are secured. However, for any terrorist in the Middle East to fly from there to Bogata to Mexico is a whole string of security "fences" they must penetrate. How many do you really believe will get through? Even the trip from Mexico into the US is no slam dunk; that's the reason many die in their attempt.

How many terrorists do you think will be successful? 1, 10, 100, 200? How many will they need to start a battle on the streets of the US - like the battles being fought in Iraq? After all, that's what Bush continues to parrot; "if we don't fight them there, we'll have to fight them here."

I still think their spineless. That doesn't negate how Washington works when you don't have enough numbers to override a veto.

Please, buy a clue for once.
