I knew I liked you, Reyn! Cool
We have a petite longhaired female (Rosie) and a large (read: fat) shorthaired male (Buster.) Your story of Kira and Kory reminded me a lot of my two...they started out exactly the same way. Rosie taught Buster a few tricks when she was the larger kitten that have since come back to haunt her!

That reminds me. Kory is extremely obedient to me, but ignores my wife most times. He tends to take me more seriously. When he's been a naughty boy, all I have to is raise my voice a little and say, "Basement!" and point the way. Off he goes for a timeout.

Whereas, Kira, "takes a message" and will get back to you when I have time. Laughing

Cats, ya gotta love 'em....

I'm pleased that you're managing to keep both Paddy & Lacey happy while Misti's away. Sounds like they're keeping you occupied! Please say hello to Misti & tell her that we miss her & her delightful Paddy stories & photographs. And also please tell her not to exhaust herself ... sounds like she really has her hands full!

Rae! Hi! Good to hear from you :-)

So Paddy's vacationing at your place. Fun!

I hope everything will be good for your aunt and uncle. You know, they are kinda like part of our family...

Take care, dear!

I just got home tonight after two weeks in Las Vegas with my sister and her husband.

I couldn't wait to see Paddy and had missed him so much. I went into Rae's apartment, there was Paddy on Rae's bed, and he looked at me as if to say, "where do I know her from" .. or, "doesn't she look familiar?" ... he was so confused, it seemed. We took him home in the car, he was up on the back window ledge, off to the side, and yacking all the way. We finally got home and he ran to the sliding glass doors to get out on the porch ... then back in the house again to be petted. He is at this very moment laying by my chair after chasing a lady bug he had spotted on the ceiling .... he is now laying in wait for this same little lady bug to emerge again.

I am sure I missed Paddy more than he missed me, and I often wonder if the have any sense of time or place or is it a "moment at a time" for our kitties? Do they remember where they live or who they belong to? Do they miss us as we miss them?

It's good to be home!

Hi Misti - I'm sure Paddy is delighted to see you back.

Oh yes, they do miss you - remember Rosie refused to eat for over 2 days when we went away. When I collected her she came running out of the wardrobe where she was sleeping, miaowing like mad, as if to say 'DON'T GO WITHOUT ME, I'M HERE ...' (she almost never miaows) She'd really fretted.

Paddy is lucky in that Rae is familiar and loved, having lived with you and him, so he wouldn't have been so upset.

Have a rest now, you've earned it Very Happy

My aunt tells me that Possum frets terribly when I go away - and for the first few days just howls - thenm settles down to a sort of subdued existence.

Funnily, if I've been away for a while, after checking me out, he won't speak to me for a couple of hiours when I get home! Contrary animals.

well, he has to make his point! how dare you go away and leave him?

Timmy used to shadow me for the first 48 hours back, glued to my side wherever I went!

Certain cats I've had in the past seemed much more attached to me than others. I once had an all-white, two-different-colored eyes cat who loved me like mad.

When I'd go out of town and return, he'd come running and cry to be picked up, then hug me hard with his little paws. How I loved that cat! I was lucky enough to have him for 14 years.

You know, I wouldn't dare go off & leave Flatty for too long. Being not exactly the world's most sensible creature, god knows what he'd do in my absence! Disappear? Kinda limits my movements a bit!

Speaking of Flats, I took him to see the vet yesterday after yet another outbreak of the dreaded snuffles. <sigh> Turns out he's the fittest the vet has seen him in a few years! Surprised Oh that cat! Trouble, trouble, trouble .....

That's a fact, Reyn. But I have to admit, some dogs' barks bother me a lot less than others. The huge dogs' thundering threats make my blood turn cold, and little yappy dogs get on my nerves in a hurry. There have been other dogs' barks, however, that aren't so bad. Certainly preferable to tomcats caterwauling in the middle of the night. That can be even worse. I absolutely cannot rest when that happens.

Here's $50 for the Prince's Kitty fund. Let's get him a big, squishy one that will shed all over him. <LOL>
