Diane, I've known cats to get carsick. A risky busy traveling with a cat. But I know how you miss having one. I'd also worry about the cat getting out. And, yes, there's Fred to think about.

A traveling menagerie. Maybe you could charge admission to defray the cost of gas. LOL.

Update on Lacey.

Rae stopped by this evening and said Lacey is getting brave, she is now meeting Rae at the door when she gets home. She phoned later to say how Lacey was playing/dancing with a wire tie, and having more fun than a barrel of monkeys!

Will let you know how our visit goes Saturday ... I'm so looking forward to it!

Hi there -- ok -- I'm new, and have not read through this entire cat thread -- wish I had that time. Anyway -- ideas on how to put my wonderful adorable but HUGE black male cat on a diet? He's about 4 and loves to eat and is really annoying if I try and restrict his diet....

So far I feed him normal cat chow...one small (!) bowl twice a day and no treats. But man - is he huge!

Hi, dancingnancy. Glad you could drop in. Well, I've got two fat cats and a skinny one, so I started feeding them IAMS mature weight control. Costs the same as the regular IAMS, but more than most others. Anyway, after about four months, I've got two fat cats and one skinny one.

No BOO for Squirrel, littlek. I've been around the creatures long enough to know that when they're startled, their eyes dialate all the way.

Dancing nancy - I dunno. Besides restricting his diet, have you tried excersize equipment? My kitty (he's a little pudgy too) adores those carboard scratching panels.

Roger - he's saying boo. Oh well. He wasn't doing either. He was actually enjoying a sunspot and peeking. He likes to peek.

littlek beautiful! and a really good photo as well.

yes misti take your camera

Rosie is hanging in there - her inner eyelids are still a bit over and she's still a bit sorry for herself but is eating and playing a bit so I think she's doing ok.

I was really tired last night and wanted to go to bed but Rosie and I were having a cuddle - her lying on my chest, wet nose tucked under my neck and one paw wrapped round my neck the other side - Saving Private Ryan was on TV and I didn't want to watch it but was pinned down.

I kept saying 'I have to go to bed, I'm tired' and she knows I mean I want to move so she just keeps her eyes tight shut, burrows her nose deeper under my chin and wraps her paw tighter round my neck! So I'm tired this morning.

Took Paddy for a visit to Rae's last night ... it was an interesting ride. He climbed into the back seat, and talked to me for a bit, saying he was scared and didn't care for the car. I told him not to worry, it's a short ride, and you're going to see Lacey! He told me in no uncertain terms he didn't want to visit Lacey, he was mad at her for leaving him. I assured him it was okay, we were only going for a short visit, then we'd be on the road again.

He climbed into the space behind the drivers seat, and stuck his head up just enough so I could rub his chin.

We arrived at Rae's to see Lacey in the window, and chatting her gentle, little meow chit-chat brogue! I carried Paddy in and Lacey ran after him as he ran to hide, ANYPLACE. He hissed at Lacey as she proceeded to kiss him and wash him, but he wanted no part of her.

Lacey didn't even remember me:(

I got Paddy's blanket to get ready to leave, he KNEW right away we were leaving, and came out of hiding.

He sat in the front seat all the way home, not a peep out of him and happy, happy, happy to be home.

He slept the rest of the evening, he was totally exhausted from the trip.

Vivien:

Beautiful story of you and Rosie holding you captive in a horizontal position and she's the smaller one, he he!

I do know what you mean though, she was so comfy you hated to disturb her, as if she'd let you:)

Thanks all, he is gorgeous, I agree. His diabetes isn't entirely in control. I keep his sugar a little too high to be safe since his insulin seems to fluxuate a little. Not good for his system in the long run, but safer for the short term.

Misit - of course Laci remembers you, cats don't forget! She was just so excited to see her pal, scaredy-cat.

aaaah lovely story of Paddy! I'm sure Lacey will be delighted to see you in future - this time Paddy just took priority. She was probably just trying to reassure him.

Rosie is still not right - she's playing with Paddy at the moment but her inner eyelids are over a little way this morning and it's day 4 of the antibiotics - only one more day to go. I have visions of a repeat trip to the vet Crying or Very sad

Poor Rosie! This is a VERY persistent condition, Vivien. I hope there are encouraging signs, & soon.

A big surprise for msolga:

There I was, totally zonked out on the couch after a long day's teaching, half-heartedly watching something rubbishy on the teev. I see Flatty out of the corner of my eye, heading for the bedroom .. an early night? Then, strange meowing noises from the bedroom. (What on earth is that critter up to? Confused ) THEN, as he's turned up in the loungeroom, I lean over to pat him, as he moves toward the couch. Shocked IT ISN'T FLATTY! Shocked Nope, some other fluffy, tabby interloper has been checking out the inside of my house! Evil or Very Mad S/he jumps away from me & bolts toward the back door, slithering over rugs in the mad panic. And what was Mr Flatcat doing during this performance? Sitting & calmly watching the whole thing! Evil or Very Mad

We used to have a neighbour with a cat who liked to sneak in to sleep on our beds - trouble was she was a nasty bit of work - she'd attack you tooth and claw if you tried to eject her!

Paddy plays with all the neighbourhood riff raff - he's the most sociable cat I've ever known. He hasn't brought anyone home yet thank heavens. Just sitting watching and letting mum sort it out sounds like Rosie Very Happy
