I just looked, Roberta, & I appear to ba all there!
You are all there. Last time I looked, Felix appeared to be looking over a fence. Welcome back.
Have you seen this website?
http://www.mycathatesyou.com/book
It's got funny photos with captions. This may be my favorite -- oops the caption is a little rude. Oh well...
and this...
Very funny, Piffka! But you know, I need a translation of that first caption
... But please don't feel obliged to translate into Oz speak if it's going the get you into hot water! I'll use my imagination!
This one's fun, too!
Hi Olga,
I had to ask my son. He said it meant "Forty" and referred to a 40 oz bottle of beer (frequently plastic, sold at gas stations and sold to those you might not want to hang out with). He says it is the cheapest way -- $2 -- to get drunk besides fortified wine.
I just thought the cat was cute. Those eyes.
I like the "shrooms" cat, too. Somebody told me their cat was on that site, which is how I happened to find it.
Also, y'know, I used to have a cat named "Sinner" who DID hate everybody, so the title rang home.
Indeed, a beautiful cat, Piff! But then they ALL are!
Thanks for going to the trouble of getting a translation!
You're very welcome, Olga. I wouldn't have posted it if I'd realized it had that caption, since it did seem awfully rude.
All cats ARE beautiful. I love cats and would adore having one, but have sworn off due to my bad dogs. They were reasonably good with our last cat (he was bigger than they were when they were puppies, so they learned respect for him), but since his death, I just don't have the energy to supervise those dogs learning to deal with a new cat. Wouldn't be fair to the cat.
Oh, what a shame, Piff. And you'd know exactly what you're missing!
I've been meaning to say how much I like the new avatar msolga
Thank you, Vivien! It's nice to be animated! <wink>
Our new cat, Sally
We have nicknamed our new cat, "Lick-Lick-Bite in the middle of the night." LOL It seems that all of our cats have quirky behaviors. We've had Sally for about 6 weeks, and our older cat (Tabby) still hasn't accepted her. I have to stand guard while Sally eats. Otherwise, Tabby chases her from the food bowl and poor Sally goes hungry. Tabby is very hateful and jealous of the new young one. How long will it take before she quits her hissy fits?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ROBERTA!
Love & purrs from all the moggies (& their owners)at A2K!
This utterly charming & funny little poem was posted by Piffka, on jjorges November Poems thread:
Alley Cat Love Song
Dana Gioia
Come into the garden, Fred,
For the neighborhood tabby is gone.
Come into the garden, Fred.
I have nothing but my flea collar on,
And the scent of catnip has gone to my head.
I'll wait by the screen door till dawn.
The fireflies court in the sweetgum tree.
The nightjar calls from the pine,
And she seems to say in her rhapsody,
"Oh, mustard-brown Fred, be mine!"
The full moon lights my whiskers afire,
And the fur goes erect on my spine.
I hear the frogs in the muddy lake
Croaking from shore to shore.
They've one swift season to soothe their ache.
In autumn they sing no more.
So ignore me now, and you'll hear my meow
As I scratch all night at the door.
This cat hates you because you are from a red state.
Poor little blighter, he's got indigestion!

Each cat should have its own food bowl, Debra. Are you allowing Sally to eat out of Tabby's bowl (that has always been HER food, you know.)
