I have four
Hello All,

I have four cats-- a mother (black), two of her offspring (torties), and one Tabby (recently acquired). They are my family and I love being around them. They're strictly indoor cats, much to their chagrin. The first three are (spayed) females and the Tabby is a (neutered-- you better believe it!) male. I saw him one day at a shopping mall in a cage and found out that should he not be adopted that... well, you know. Two weeks later (after I could make the arrangements), I was driving home with him in a carrier. I was NOT going to let anyone hurt my Aidan (his new name). He's sitting here now, watching me input these words. He gets along perfectly with the females and is very gentle with them. He's a big, lovable guy and I love him. I am so lucky to have these four characters!!

Welcome, Ailsa, you ol' softy! Very Happy Of course none of the rest of us are! Laughing
A pleasure to meet you & a joy to hear that Aidan was save from a horrible fate. Tell us more about your menagerie! (you can send photographs, too!) You are obviously a true blue cat person!
I once lived in a 4 cat household .... It was chaotic, dinner times were crazy, but I loved it! A cat every place you looked! Very Happy

Yes, Olga, please tell us what happened with the cat in the pet store. Have you forced yourself to stay away?

Mikey update: After almost two weeks of not going near the breakfront (seven feet high by six and a half feet long) he attacked it last night. I'm sitting here minding my own business and BOOOM. Thud. I don't know what he thinks he's going to accomplish. Or why now. Living with a lunatic.

How's Flattie doing? Is he still sneezing? Poor little guy.

I haven't done the Sydney Road walk (where the cat shop is) for a couple of weeks. I'm heading that way on Saturday morning. Should I take a peep? If he IS there I'll feel terrible & if he ISN'T I'll be imagining the worst. Sad

He sort of ran at it & collided with it? Shocked I knew he was interested in it but has he declared war on it, Roberta? Is he trying to climb it, do you think? Does he not like it perhaps? Wow, never a dull moment! Laughing

Yay! He's not sneezing! Hooray & touch wood! Very Happy My vet has been patiently treating him & the medication appears to have worked.
By the way, Roberta, "little guy" is hardly an apt description .... Try Bomba! Laughing The pills gave him a most extraordinary appetite & he would demand extra feeds night & day. The problem now is this: as the cold weather begins he likes to lounge on me at every opportunity. (Next best thing to a heater.) It's a bit like having a large bag of potatoes sitting on my lap!

Olga, I didn't see what happened. I only heard it. Like I said--Booom, thud. And the breakfront was the only thing around. He sat and stared at it for a while after that. He kept shifting, as if he might make another run at it. Sigh. I hope he gets this out of his system before all the crystal is in it. Double sigh.

Mikey moves in mysterious ways. Laughing
Round 1 to the breakfront, but my money's on Mikey. If he stares at it for long enough he'll think of something!

CATS
Hi msolga,

Thanks for your reply-- I love cats-- I have an affinity with those who understand that kind of love. I love animals in general and deeply respect those who also do and despise those who hurt animals-- not to raise a tempest here, but I cringe and shake with righteous anger when I see anything that's made of FUR. Or to buy products from companies who continue to torture animals in their testing. They're little BEINGS with personalities and with likes and dislikes... it's like killing people. But, onto more pleasant subjects, I'll try to figure out how to post photos and I want an AVATAR but don't know how to insert one.

I love and respect all you who feel likewise about cats-- cats RULE!!

Ailsa

P.S. When I was previewing my post, I got this error:

Ailsa

I don't think your thoughts will upset anyone here in the Cat Room ... I couldn't agree more!
I wish I could help you post a photograph, Ailsa, but I made a total botch- up of the process myself, despite getting help! Shocked Duhhhhhhhhh. Embarrassed There is a tutorial here that tells you how to do it & people will help if you experience problems. But I can tell you that you need to post your photo to the Gallery (see the top line under the A2K heading) then, you can post it to threads. BTW check out the gallery. You'll find many of the critters we talk of here in there! Very Happy Keep posting. Lovely to hear your cat stories & your thoughts.

Cheers,
Olga

Olga, Glad to hear that Flattie is doing well. Has he reached Mikey proportions? I hope not for your sake. Glad the vet has found the right med.

I agree that the breakfront doesn't stand a chance. It's just a matter of time.

All my neighbours (mostly elderly, retired folks) have cats - who seem to take great delight in sleeping in my front yard - and one of them on my car. Bugs me to no end when I come back home.

As a rabbit, of course, i don't have a dog in this fight (heeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheehee), however, my canine friends asked be to drop by and deliver a message. I can't recall exactly what they said, but it went, more or less . . .

Grrrrgrrrrgrrrrgrrrrgrrrr

A find good day to the feline lovers, if not actually to the felines in question . . .

Great laugh for early Saturday morning, Roberta! I'm not sure of the sense of placing the crystal there yet - not until a winner has been declared. Can you put some of those hanging chimes on it for a bit - and see if the noise bothers him? <mind you - I'm not entirely sure what a breakfront is - did you tell us somewhere back? - but I take it to be some sort of cupboard, display thingy?>

Warning MsOlga - this time next Saturday I'm putting my skates on for the airport! Very Happy
