Those leopard cats are cute! They do look a bit like Rosie!

Always nice to see Setanta's sensible comments! Hah! What're those dog imitations doing on a cat page?

Hey Boss, Do not assume exclusivity. I love dogs too. Just don't have one is all.

Would you like a gift of one, Roberta? Mikey would be thrilled beyond belief!

Getting a wild cat to compliment Mikey sounds a bit redundant, doesn't it, msolga?

Hey, nekko! Welcome to the cat place, and welcome to a2k, too.

Laughing No, Roger, Roberta was talking about dogs! (after one of Setanta's *grrrrr cats* visits)

Yes, nekko, welcome! Your beautiful garden would be PERFECT with the addition of a few cats! Very Happy

Roger, Roger. Glad to meet you. That website came up when I was looking for some background on a news item in the Houston Chronicle
regarding the proliferation of hybrid pet animal breeders. Figured my little anecdote was interesting enough to share with A2K's Cat People.
You'll most likely find me in the garden, though. Already I'm tracking mud into the garage and basement.

Why hello, Msolga: nekochan thinks it is I who's the garden ornament--she's the gardening overseer.

Flatty treated me to a gruesome sight a couple of days ago .... he caught the tiniest little mouse while I was out & was well into having his fun with it when I returned home. Poor little mouse was half dead & Flatty was thoroughly enjoying tossing it in the air, letting it move just a little so he could catch & torture it some more .... It was awful to watch. Shocked But was he interested in EATING it? No way! Once no more fun could be had he simply left it for me to dispose of .... Sad
I KNOW that it's a cat's nature to behave like this, but .... I can't help feeling a wee bit revolted & disappointed.

Msolga;

I too love cats and as far back as I can remember I have always had a cat or cats. My present cat is of course a stray with long hair (All white.) female named ,"Snow". She first appeared on my back porch as a young, skinny little girl who was starving.

I of corse fead her, found a box filled it with sand and brought her into my house. When she was a few months old I took her to the vets and she is now an old maid.

I am very lucky for she lets me live in my house as long as I am very qite for she loves to sleep. When I eat she is always sitting on the floor by my right side. She does not care what I am eating just as long as I give her some.(She just love Ice Cream.)

Well you know the rest of the story. At night I often go to sleep hearing Snow purring.

Welcome to the Cat Room, Joe H! And of course, welcome to A2K, too. Very Happy
Ah, I can see you're a soft touch when it comes to our feline friends. And I can see Snow has spotted this quality in you, too, very quickly. Very Happy There's something very comforting & pleasurable in giving a homeless creature a good, safe home, then watching them develop their confidence to the point that they feel safe enough to develop all those hidden idiosyncracies, isn't there? And you wouldn't have gotten to know your rightful position in the household, either, without Snow! Laughing
I can certainly relate to your story. Most of my cats have been of the homeless variety & they have all been a joy.
Lovely to meet you, Joe, & I hope we'll see you back here with your Snow stories soon. And give Snow a big hug for me. Very Happy

Sorry to have been MIA for a while. I was moving stuff from my mother's apartment to my apartment.

Mikey has met a few dogs. Nothing interesting happened. I would have a dog except that I keep strange hours, and walking a dog in the wee hours of the morning does not appeal to me.

Mikey is still in a state from yesterday's move. Too many people. Too much noise. Too much everything. When everyone left, he glommed onto me like a fuzzy barnacle. He made a few forays for exploring. Then he was back at my side. He's now explored everything but a large breakfront--six and a half feet long and seven feet high. He's bound to check it out eventually.

Joe H. I once had a parakeet named Snow--an albino. She was a delicate, sweet little thing. But she packed a hell of a bite when provoked.

My grandmother favored cherrywood furniture; her pride and joy was a cherry breakfront, in which she keep displayed her finest china (never used, only displayed). The wood was regularly oiled, and dusted every day, wiped down every week. The glass of the doors was cleaned at least once a week, inside and out. She had her pragmatic side, as well, though--the bottom section was filled with the tablecloths, napkins, gravy boats, tureens--all of the table linen and "one-of-a-kind" pieces of china which set the table when combined with the "everyday" china, kept in the kitchen in an old, well-maintained hoosier cabinet.

BigDice's mother is visiting from Sweden and the cats love the additional attention they are getting. Of course this only works for Nisse because she is a woman. He doesn't care for men too much if he does not know them...
