Anyway, Louis has gotten finicky about his food. He doesn't like any of the textureless canned ones anymore, and will only eat the "tender slices in gravy" types. We make sure he has dry food available at all times because sometimes he just ignores the canned food we give him. Weirdo.

Are you calling me insensitive while at the same time recommending that farmerman shoot the hunter? Or take revenge by shooting the hunter's pets?
I just got called a "nut job" - and that sure seems misplaced if I'm reading this right.
Anybody wanna retract?
Must be easy to get off of jury duty when you can just tell them you prefer animals over people.
Never had to 'get off' of jury duty. Is this something you relish doing, cj?
The lack of logical thinking on A2K lately has me ready to use my laptop for target practice. But you'd all enjoy that too much.
Your post about getting off jury duty almost makes it seem like you think getting off jury duty is something to be strived for.
cj, your just full of it. I did post this on another thread but. I let the hunters on my land, They came and went and , as I left for the office that morning (it was a weekday and I had a policy that they should tell me when theyre coming) They didnt and I saw their SUV parked in the section of pasture far from our lane, I didnt make the association, and failed to call home. So my wife let Lucky out for a short run before his breakfast. The "hunters" just up and fuggin shot the cat, as if it was ok to shoot a cat, any cat. THERE IS NO EXCUSE SIR< YOURE JUST TRYING TO JUSTIFY THE ACT AS TRIVIAL, we loved the little guy, she took over the household and we liked her little antics
Fortunately. WE have cruelty and suffering laws in this state . Its not a "lawsuit" its CRIMINAL CHARGES. Im not the prosecuting party the state is. You shoot animals domestic or stock, youre commiting a crime (its only a class misdemeanor) but , I can always top the criminal suit with civil if I wanna be a prick. I want the hunters to realize that what they did was wrong, uncaring, immoral and just flat stupid. They have no justification. One of them is now catching my point(under advice from his attorney) and has said that hes never going hunting with the guy who did the shooting because the guy is a kind of a boor whose only into self gratification( the tight brotherhood of hunters is just no better than a bunch of idiots with guns) .
Ive since closed the field to all hunters, and Ive gotten the Amnish neighbors to do the same, and Ive sent the local Ducks Unlimited(of which Im a memeber) a note that I want a few minutes to speak at the dinner coming up. I can be rather persuasive if I get passionate about something. Im not a PETA person , but Im disgusted by the "Hooray, Im the noble hunter and F**k you" attitude of a lot of your colleagues.. Hunting was , to my family a carefully enacted ritual that was done to get outdoors, practice game tracking skills and working with our dogs. Getting some tasty meat was a part also. I cant ever recall anyone in my dads and later my neighbors hunting party, ever shooting even a crow , let alone someones beloved pet.If they did, Wed kick em out and banish em to go hunt with the other trogs and nooge worshippers, whose only thrill in life is the pain of the hit.
We do feel very guilty for leaving Lucky out that morning, but that guilt has been replaced by a determination that hunting needs to be an earned privilege again. Too many yahoos and amoral people handling the guns.
In Lancaster last year some hunters fired at a house from which the owner was hollering that they (the hunters) were within a "safety zone"
The abuse of a privelege generously afforded by the landowners is , to me, a kick in the teeth for my hospitality. To cause such pain, suffering and death to a helpless pet it unconscionable. It is beyond reason and excuses.
Ill persue my "frivolous" criminal action and be there in court with pictures and an attorney because this will no doubt be a magisterial hearing. Am I mad? you bet.
cj saidQuote: I am sorry you lost your cat. But your suit seems frivolous.
Well with all your experience in the legal system , I shall keep that in mind. There I just purged it.
Illsay no more and get back to more live cat subjects. Cally has moved in to seem to want to please everyone by being a "shoulder cat'.She likes to creep atop a couch and just sit there above you and drape a paw on your shoulder.
You're obviously angry and because of it you are going to ruin your case. I expressed sympathy for your loss yet you choose to take it out on me, simply for thinking your suit a bit frivolous. Others suggested you shoot the hunter - that's a great idea...
Lawyer: You gave permission for them to hunt on your land?
You: Yes.
Lawyer: But you didn't tell your wife and she let the cat out to run in the woods?
You: Well, yes, but...
Case closed, unless you get an AR judge.
Also farmerman, I am sorry for your bad experience with less than ethical hunters. I can assure you I am not one of those.
1Im not bringing the case
2Lawyer for prosecution-Did the defendants appear as guests on th farmers land
A;yes they were permitted
QWas there anything which memorialized the conditions by which they were allowed on the land
A yes
What were they?
(I have entered as peoples 1 the agreement between the X County chapter of (XXXXXXXX) and the Farmers)
Q Is this a correct copy?
A Yes
Q Can you read me conditions 1 through 3
A 1 Before each hunting party enters , they shall notify the Farmers so that no stock or pets are in the FENCED AREA CALLED FIELD 1
2 Hunters will exercise all care in aim so as to not inadvertantly target any household pet or livestock
3Under no circumstances shall hunters shoot anythingother than those herein stated
Q did you do any of these?
A Well... welll
Q A simple yes or no
A no
Q What does it say that the results to fail to comply with this agreement
A it states that hunters will be guilty of trespass and governed by any other rules of the Commonwealth regarding hunting on land illegally and animal cruelty laws of the commonwealth
Q did you know that this was a cat/
A no we thought it was a skunk
Q do skunks normally wear flourescent collars?
Gimme a break, whatever you do for a living, stick with it. If I get a remonstrance by them in front of a magistrate , Ill be somewhat satisfied. Money aint the point. Theyll have to pay to defend and Ill have my guy there just to see that the other side doesnt try to make it appear as you think. Magisterial hearings are
A a pain in the ass schedule wise (they may keep trying to continue, but since the court is in "my court" I dont care
B It costs and Im not expecting a cent I want only a heartfelt apology. (Ill be able to tell if its real, Ive worked with the Navajo tribes in Uranium program and have learned some things about reading faces)
C Ducks Unlimited wont be happy, either way with this type of publicity.
Please, you are unarmed in this arena.
cjhsa wrote:I think you're missing part of the point Farmerman. When those folks shot your cat, they weren't "hunting", it was, unfortunately, just target practice, or a failure to identify the target. If they hurt or killed a person, I'd have a lot more sympathy. I am sorry you lost your cat. But your suit seems frivolous.
This passes for sympathy in your world?
cjhsa wrote:Must be easy to get off of jury duty when you can just tell them you prefer animals over people.
Animals
in general over people
in general? I don't see how you could conclude that. Now, the sadistic bastards that would use someone's pet for "target practice" are probably a different matter. Same slobs that put bullet holes in traffic signs and oilfield equipment, no doubt. You know - the same responsible adults that will be so surprised when all our guns are banned.
Geez, between the idiot hunters at my parents' local beach, the idiot hunters on farmerman's land and CJ's response to farmerman's cat being shot, my views on hunting are starting to chnge.
Well, I still believe in gun ownership, but it's proveable that they're not for everyone.
I don't even mind hunting so long as there are reasonable safeguards, which there may be, and repurcussions for breaking them, which remains to be seen......
Edit: I do mind hunting, but I feel like that's my own personal stance. I don't think it should neccessarily be banned......
