I still get a little choked up when I see her food bowl next to the fireplace (her spot for formal dining)
Oh, I believe it, farmer. I
still can feel very anguished when reminded of terrible deaths of particular cats, sometimes from
years ago. They are such characters, cats. Once you've spent years getting to know their particular personalities through coexisting with them, it is natural to mourn their loss. No
other cat will be quite like the one that has died. Each one is quite unique. But when a cat you know & love & who totally
trusts you, meets their death in such a hideous & avoidable way, well
of course you're going to be extremely distraught. You must have gone over any number of "what ifs ..." & "if onlys ...." But, it
wasn't your fault. No one
expects things like this to happen. You couldn't have known. Some moronic idiots came onto your property & did that terrible thing, that's all. And you won't feel better about the loss of that poor little trusting cat for a while. <sigh> But try to stop blaming yourself, it wasn't your fault.
