Here's an interesting little article about cats called, "Are asthmatic cats allergic to humans?"

It puts the shoe on the other foot for those who are allergic to cats.

That's interesting, Reyn! Surprised

You flatter me, neko nomad. Embarrassed But, yes, this is a wonderful place for a cat rave when one is in the mood, largely because of a committed bunch of feline obsessed posters! What a great bunch we are! Very Happy

And do I have to tell you again, neko, that critter on your photograph is not nekochan, it's Ms Mozzy of Melbourne, Oz! Laughing (That is such a remarkable likeness, I just stared fixedly at it for a full 5 minutes! Incredible.)

9]Thanx for not commenting on my typo. The edit function seems to be out.
the similarity is eery, isn't it, Ms. O ? The pic was taken this morning during our daily coffee break, which we enjoy for only a few more days after which the cold sets in. Cypher cat will soon learn that my comment isn't simple flattery, particularly after becoming better acquainted with the site.
Signing off for the day. My bedtime. nn

Thanks for the welcome! I've been here longer than it seems, I just changed my username-- I first joined in May. (I decided to change because when I joined I wasn't expecting to post more than the one time, so I just used my real name-- then found myself hooked on the place, and wishing that I could choose whether to let people know my name or not-- whew, that turned into a long explanation!) So anyway, I've already talked w/ msolga once or twice, and know what a lovely person she is! ('tis dora17, olga, if you remember me Smile )

I'm so glad to have found the place to gush about my pets, and hear more about everyone else's too. You can expect me to be hanging around here a lot, and you'll all be hearing plenty about the furry family. I'll post pics as soon as I get a chance.

Thanks for the introduction to nekochan, she's lovely. Smile

I went up to visit my parents last night and my mum gave me the usual bag of interesting articles from the newspaper - they have time to read a broadsheet daily and I don't - so she saves me all the interesting articles bless her!

Rosie couldn't wait for me to put it down so she could dive into into. She's always had this passion for getting into bags. She settled down so I picked her and the bag up from the floor and did a quick sketch - she didn't budge Very Happy

Reyn, interesting article and quite logical when you think how children's asthma is affected by the stuff they quote. I didn't know cats got asthma though.

Cyphercat welcome, it sounds like fun with cats and rabbits chasing around Laughing

Hi olga! I didn't intend to be confusing or anything-- just an acquaintance had mentioned recently that she wanted to come on this site, because I talk about it so much. Well, on occasion I like to use the Relationships forum to talk about things I don't neccessarily want people I know IRL to see! And she'd recognize my real name, so I thought I'd change so I can still feel comfortable saying what I want if she does start using the site. Very Happy

Vivien, that's a beautiful sketch! You really captured the face perfectly, I love how she has her eyes shut tight. I love drawing my little tabby, and she always knows I'm hoping she'll sit still for a while and of course she doesn't co-operate. Even if I wait until she's napping, she notices I have paper out and gets up to come sit on it, since any piece of paper needs a cat sitting on it.

I understand perfectly. (purrrfectly? Laughing ) And I know what you mean about wanting to remain anonymous. It means you can say exactly what you think! So, every time I see your new user-name, for a wee bit, I'll just mentally make the adjustment. You are still you, whatever you call yourself! Very Happy
Now, please tell us more about these outrageous cat/rabbit antics in your house! Madness, madness! Laughing

Did you guys see this one yet?

Quote:
Missing U.S. cat found in France

APPLETON, Wisconsin (AP) -- When Emily the cat went missing a month ago, her owners looked for their wandering pet where she had ended up before -- the local animal shelter. This week they learned Emily sailed to France.

Lesley McElhiney now figures her cat went prowling around a paper warehouse near home and ended up in a cargo container that went by ship across the Atlantic Ocean and was trucked to Nancy, a city in northeastern France near the border with Germany.

Employees at a French lamination company found her in the container, checked her tags and called Emily's veterinarian back in the U.S., John Palarski.

"It probably had access to food and water," Palarski said.

"I doubt if it went three weeks without it. There must have been a lot of mice on the boat. Even if it was in the cargo department, you would assume there was water down there. She had to have something."

Palarski faxed the cat's vaccination records to French authorities to help remove her from quarantine, but the family is wondering exactly how they will retrieve the pet.

Emily will need a health certificate from France to return home, and she will have to go through quarantine again on entering the United States, Palarski said.

"The only thing we can think right now is buying a plane ticket," McElhiney said.

"She already cost us some the first time we got her from the humane society. She's getting to be an expensive little thing."

an amazing tail/tale and expensive!

My daughter gave me a scratching post thing for the cats as her cat was totally disinterested in it. I expected ours to be the same but they've surprised me and love it.

Paddy the Bad managed to pull the mouse thing off totally within 2 minutes of course! so in the pics with Rosie you'll note the elegant knot repairing it!

Rosie wasn't at all interested in curling up in the bottom until I put a bag of newspapers in to tempt her - she can't resist them so was in within minutes! She looks like a little bag lady Rolling Eyes

Awwwwwwww Viv, beautiful pics! Rosie and Paddy are both good-looking kitties, and they also look like they're full of it!

They do love the scratching posts, Paddy still claws it even tho' he doesn't have nails, poor baby!

Vivien, how do you like those sisal scratching posts? They do tend to shred a bit, for our experience. Do the cats use them frequently?

well, we've only had it a couple of weeks Reyn - my daughters cat had no interest in it, so she passed in on to us.

I expect it will shed hairs - but better that than the sofa - which Paddy used to head straight towards when he came in. He'd stop immediately he was told but would still head for it the next time Rolling Eyes

They love it and scratch enthusiastically so I hope that lasts.

Rosie will only sleep in it because of the bag of papers, otherwise she didn't want to know, it's just the bag addiction that gets her in there!
