@edgarblythe,
The weather news has been full of southeast Texas storm lately. As though there's no other weather paranoia to stir up.

We got, pardon the use of this cliche, Texas size mosquitoes out there. I was just trying to locate standing water to dump it out, but that's no real help, as the puddles in the dirt have not dried, yet.

@edgarblythe,
I hear that Texas mosquitos have been seen carrying midgets and small children away. They apply to FAA for landing permits at the airport.

These are the most persistent I have encountered in years.

@edgarblythe,
Probably because you've had optimal soupy hot weather for them to breed.

Shewolf and family had to bug out of their home in the sticks outside of Austin (somewhere between Lubbock and Austin) due to tornado warnings. One touched down about 20 miles from them.

When they got home they found their yard inundated with water from the surrounding dry creeks which were no longer dry.

They are doing lots of clean up today.

I saw this on facebook. She is having a hard time of it out there. I just hope she gets some good breaks, soon.

@edgarblythe,
Just read another update. They've got another tornado warning with sirens going off.

They had to dig trenches around their chicken coop to channel water away. The chicks were up to their knees in water.

Have you seen the video she posted, of the guy surfing in the ditch, while being pulled by a pick up truck?

@edgarblythe,
Yeah, that was crazy...only in Texas.

They just posted this:

KEYE CBS News, Austin
39 mins · Edited ·
JUST IN: LCRA says Tom Miller Dam is now on floodgate operations, those along or near Lady Bird Lake downstream should watch for fast moving water.

And a couple mutual friends in Austin are saying the water on their street is halfway up the fire hydrants.

Shewolf's neighbor took this yesterday. The creek that runs between the properties is normally just a puddle. They have more rain today.

My part of the state is now under a flash flood watch until midnight. So far, it has been a dry windy day.

@edgarblythe,
You are probably going to get the overflow from central TX as it makes for the ocean.

We had a good soaking overnight here and just had a brief sprinkle as the clouds raced eastward. Good time for pulling weeds.

The rain has started. Oddly, when Rocky hears thunder, he barks at it and goes looking for it.

My phone alerts so far only mention flooding. No tornadoes. It can't flood here.
