I've been repairing an upstairs patio deck. It was shoddily constructed about 25 years ago, after the original burned. They rebuilt that whole end of the building. When they poured the concrete patio deck, they put it directly on the plywood sub deck. Normally, a tarred coating is applied first, to shed any water that leaks through. Because they didn't, a substantial part of the plywood was rotted and some large chunks of concrete broke free. I've worked at it sporadically all week. Tomorrow, I hope to get it done.

I need a fix. I haven't heard a complete wrap up of the Ebola situation for about ten minutes. It's more exciting than Dracula or Day of the Dead. This time next October we may be an extinct species. Please don't contradict me. I am having too much fun being scared shitless.

@edgarblythe,
I've often wondered why so many people enjoy being scared shitless. No kidding! The first time I saw Psycho, I had to walk out into the lobby, because I couldn't handle the scare. I also know that scary movies are very popular; they couldn't pay me to see those. Twisted Evil Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Laughing Laughing

Of course I was being sarcastic. They are making a lot of money with ebola coverage, while skipping most of the other news.

@cicerone imposter,
Yeah, Ebola is scaring everyone shitless, but that's encouraged by our lousy media. I got a text msg from my best pal earlier today, her nephew received Nina Pham at Bethesda, providing direct care. She said he is fine despite almost 24 hours at the hospital. I saw a clip of Ms. Pham earlier today and she seemed to be in good spirits. I know it's a health threat but I believe we can handle it if caught early enough.

I'm not the go to person regarding Ebola, I just live in Maryland and know people who work for many agencies......it's our States biggest employer (Feds). I was at her mothers funeral Wednesday and spent time with Kevin's parents. No one knew at that time Bethesda would be receiving an Ebola patient at that time.

Darrell Issa must be really pissed, all this Ebola stuff is distracting everyone from Benghazi and the imaginary IRS scandal.

Just saw a headline: "President Romney would have stopped Ebola." Which I can see. His enormous vacuum would have sucked it all up and it would be held in so tight even he would not get infected. After a mandatory quarantine time, the world would be safe. Super Romney does it again.

@edgarblythe,
I thought all the GOP members had the solution for everything! They complain about almost everything.

A few hundred thousand died of Aids before Reagan took any sort of action, but Obama is being called ineffective before this fight has had time to gain any traction.

@Ragman,
They only give statistics on Americans, in those years, on the links I have searched. There were enormously more in Africa, I think.

@edgarblythe,
the link was in reference to Reagan and the impact on American.

With the current shrieking and media over-hype about Ebola, AIDS-HIV is considered a worldwide pandemic to this very day. I was surprised to see that and, frankly, I'm ashamed that I didn't know. In sub-Saharan Africa the suffering and death statistics are mind-boggling. Particularly high concentrated in South Africa and Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, where it is alleged the first case has first been recorded (around the '20s).

@Ragman,
Aids in Africa was terrifying Americans. That is where it was moving from. How could it have been irrelevant? Ebola in Africa is having the same effect now.

"Since its discovery, AIDS has caused an estimated 36 million deaths worldwide (as of 2012). As of 2012, approximately 35.3 million people are living with HIV globally."

Well, your first response limited the number of deaths to Americans.
