I hate it when a spider webs the porch at eye level. My reflex smacked my glasses down on the ridge of my nose.

We had weekend showers. More possible during the week. Anything to make me have to mow the yard. Not complaining, though. My trees had to be getting desperate for water.

The golden milk is helpful. I plan to keep making it for the near future, perhaps longer.

Today I will replace three more sprinkler valves. These are to be done under a time limit, because the valve that shuts off the water supply does not work. Which means it will be necessary to cut off the water to the entire apartment complex.

One of my coworkers has been driving a Fiat while her car gets worked on. It looks one hell of a lot like the ones I used to see in the 1950s. I don't see them getting much foothold in the market around here, but I have been wrong before.

Ended up working all day long and still not getting the job done. The problem: pressure from the office to hurry it up, which caused me to take short cuts that could not work.

More rain the forecast. Good deal.

I get tired of plowing the same ground in threads where contention is the name of the game. I am willing to give up the last word, after I have had my say. Surely people don't downgrade the quality or lack thereof just because the compulsive won't shut up.

I plan to be less strenuous the rest of the week. Even look for some moments to coast.

I was reading up on "balm in Gilead." Next: "Nora freezing on the trolley."

I am amazed at how whole groups of people are already anointing Hillary Clinton as the next President. I would hope we can have a primary and vote on that before deciding if she will even run.

I note on this anniversary of Elvis the King's death that the pressure to turn his birthday into a holiday has decreased markedly. But a holiday that encompasses the like of Elvis, Ray Charles, and a whole host of others, seems like a great idea to me.

@edgarblythe,
I'm up for that ed. Any excuse for a holiday is always a valid one.

We had mucho rain last evening. Lightning struck a car. Lightning struck a transformer, sending the wires down on some cars. Lightning set two houses on fire. Plus trees were downed in The Woodlands and near Conroe. The system in the Gulf might send lots of water here, but the local weather dude thinks it will not have much wind or even be a named storm. We are going to get some of the battery powered lanterns this weekend. We normally have relied on candles and flashlights. Time to stock up on food and bottled water, until at least deep into October.

Well I gonna work today, but I will take it slow and easy. Been pushing it for months. Time to rest a bit.

I had been in the habit of acquiring movies because I wanted to catch up on ones I missed or had not seen in 50 years. But some of the channels are offering quite a few such films free. Free is much more cheaper than for a fee.

@cicerone imposter,
That's true, CI. But my computer doesn't have the power to run whole movies.

There is a game I play on line. One phase of it has too many graphics for my computer. Nine out of ten times, when I hit a certain maneuver, the game freezes. Good thing its not important - in the scheme of things.

My friend, Ed Motketsan set up his wounded Crow Publishing and has sold out his new book. But new copies are coming. It makes me feel good when somebody succeeds. I hope every edition of that book sells out.

I had been in the habit of having Cheerios for breakfast, with a few things added to the milk. This made it hard to have my morning Golden Milk. So I have incorporated the cooked up turmeric in the cereal bowl too. It tastes better than one would imagine.

When people I love go on facebook and moan that their money goes to welfare for lazy, irresponsible, probably drunks and drug addicts, I get angry. As I told one of them last night: "I was a welfare child and am unapologetic." This one said the work ethic was different 70 years ago. I responded that it is the same, just agendas have changed. He hasn't responded yet, if he is going to.

Social sites can often put us in a position nearly equivalent of the one occupied by psychoanalysts. Some members blurt everything over a period of time.

@edgarblythe,
Most people are incapable of seeing themselves as having benefited from government social programs. They have been brainwashed - mostly from becoming conservatives. They have let their politics override their religion of assisting their neighbors who are in need.

They have become the destroyers of our schools and infrastructure, and have become the controllers of other people's lives.

Most have benefited from the public school systems, lunch programs, and other social services provided by our government.

Now that they have "theirs," they don't want anybody else to get the benefits they received.

I am wifeless for the day. She gone to a class she needs for the job and tomorrow she has to be at work because they are preparing for the start of school. Last week it was me gone to meet with the owners.

I ordered a book about DMSO. I have been using a bit of it for years. This book is an in depth study. I use it with the black salve and for minor burns, because it penetrates the skin and it instantly stops soreness and pain if you get a minor burn while cooking. If anybody buys some for that purpose, remember to keep the area touched by DMSO untouched by anything else for twenty minutes, to keep the skin from absorbing unwanted substances.

I've got to do some cleaning. Don't feel industrious. Maybe after I get moving -

The US mail is pretty fast. I ordered my book on DMSO on Wednesday morning and received it on Friday. I'm going to miss the post office after the government has killed it.

I was in the Navy when the March on Washington occurred, fifty years ago. Many in the service live insular lives. I was barely aware when the march happened. It's not that I was indifferent to the cause of civil rights. The days of the bus sit ins were a cause for celebration. "At last they are standing up in force," I told myself, when the news reached my ears. I applauded the I Have a Dream Speech, but was in no position to grasp the historical significance. It was only after my release from the military I put my attention firmly on the social issues. I wish I had been able to devote more of my time. I had a family crisis and further issues that pulled me away, in 1969, and then the Peace Movement became raveled and I had no place to go that I knew of. King was one of the few public figures who truly grasped our situation and seemed willing to do something about it.
