The USMC says a marine without a firm faith is an unstable character, so I read today. It's okay. I was a sailor.

Squirrel Wars, Part II
We heard a few bumps under the floor. Tell-tale sign of a new infestation. I think it's squirrels, although we have had possums get in in the past. I thought after I put new siding and repaired all the skirting we were squirrel-proof. Then I saw at the tongue to our mobile home in paradise a hole large enough to slip through. The sons of guns. I have the trap set, but so far no squirrel. Anybody want some pelts?

It means anything anybody asserts it to mean ed.

How's this for enlightened--all the politicians of recent years have bought their power with the money we owe. A bit like offering kids as much sugar as they can eat except that sugar can get surfeited whereas the trappings of pride have no limit.

I am very much hoping so. I'm not in favour of the Phoenix trick.

I didn't say there is anything wrong with buying power with our money. It's the price we pay for being assholes and thus needing governing. 312 million ungoverned assholes is not a subject worth dreaming about.

Anatomically speaking...Some of us aren't ungoverned assholes. Some of us are ungoverned pricks.

@edgarblythe,
Would you like some inspiration for your book ed?

Google Chapter 5 of Northanger Abbey Online and read the last few paragraphs. From "Yes, Novels; ....".

Carefully mind. It might do you no harm to have it off by heart.

I wouldn't do that Rocky. I might paraphrase the story of Sir Walter Elliot in language cows could understand and I would not expect any other reaction than flicks of the ear and some tail swishing.

In Texas news: Thousands of bees attacked a couple, their horses and some chickens, killing two horses and some hens. They plan to test to see if they are or are not killer bees. (I wonder what other type they might be? Rolling Eyes )

Neither you nor your poet have any choice. It is merely a question of which thoughts to be a thief of and how to arrange them more stylishly. Sometimes known as cliche butchering.

The thought that one has anything original to say is a ludicrous one. Even Dylan has advertised for anybody who has an original thought.

The wounded flowers were dangling from the vine
I was passing by yon cool crystal fountain
Someone hit me from behind.

The post office is considering suspension of door to door service. Seems to me that might trigger a revenue loss bigger than they could survive. Maybe not. When I was a kid and first took notice of mail, I was baffled. How does the mail get in the boxes. A picture flashed in my mind of a person sailing a letter, Frisby style, and the letter zipping into the correct mail box. I was not dumb enough to see it like that and so puzzled a bit. All I could come up with, they might pay somebody to put letters in every mail box on Earth. Not feasible, I reasoned. Letters are not valuable enough for them to afford that big an organization. I finally had to quit the exercise, knowing that I would one day acquire the knowledge. It would have to remain an unsolved mystery until then. A side line of enquiry, I figured the flag to be a signal that mail had been delivered.

Saw a TV ad last night I had trouble believing, but it was for real. A beautiful pitch for a device to bring HD TV to your television set, free of charge. No more cable bills and yet you get all these free channels. It sounded like the greatest thing since peanut butter. It sounded so advanced and life changing. In the end, the ad displayed an air antenna for $19.95. - WTF - I just saw that one time. It may have gotten pulled.

I once wanted to see Hillary Clinton elected president. After viewing her husband and Obama I decided the three are of one cloth and have been looking elsewhere.

I have to work with the new man to replace an entry door. If I were in charge I would get someone to help me set the new one up the stairs and later to help take the heavy old one down. But I would install that pre-hung door by myself. This guy thinks we ought to do the whole operation together. One more day lost from getting certain tasks done before the owners visit on the 19TH.

I have much to do today. But I want to stay home and rest. I will compromise by going to work and then rest after I get home. A win/win situation, no?

I like my new coworker. He made sure we have plenty of duct tape and WD-40.

The front yard is overgrown with weeds, due to recent rains and the fact I haven't done anything with it recently. A few blossoms show above the unwanted growth and a couple of rose bushes are asserting themselves. Aside from that it's pretty sad. None of the banana trees are as tall as I am this year. The crepe myrtle has practically no flower action. Just one step closer to a decision to convert to concrete and gravel.
