@Ragman,
We had returned home from dropping off a squirrel. From the beginning she has demonstrated a love of being inside that truck. At first, I let her stay as long as she wanted to. I just left the door open and the gate also open. When the mood hit her she came in through the doggy door and I locked up the truck. This time I needed her out for some reason I no longer even remember. Oh, well. She's a good dog.
I have actually entertained the idea of building Punky a dog house that has a car seat for a bed. It would be tricky to give her a view and protect the bed from the weather at the same time. Maybe a plexiglass window. Not sure what will come of the idea.
The rain is over until Sunday, when it is expected to return for three or four days. Today will be sunny and about 70 degrees. All the writing on line, about how moringa trees cannot survive weather temps below seventy had me thinking they would look like dead branches stuck in the ground by now, but they still have plenty of leaves.
Joe Biden says the president may use executive order in the gun control effort. I prefer that congress act instead, because the next president may not let an executive order stand. Ultimately, whatever works needs to be done as soon as possible. I read an article on line, an interview with an emotionally disturbed man, in which he states he has no desire to perform mass murder, but it's nice to know he has the option.
In my last post I mentioned a man who was mentally disturbed, re guns. Turns out I was duped by an Onion article. Still, there is an element of truth to such a story.
Word is, my daughter who moved to Colorado several years back, will be returning to live here. Hers is a greatly missed family of six.
As far as I am concerned, the arguments have been made and it is time now for some gun control. No more coddling the ones that demand to be allowed tactical nuclear weapons with which to hunt squirrels. (At first, I wrote "to hunt squirrels with" because I speak that way)
I have to contend with a young coworker who wants to do all the heavy stuff in deference to my age. I don't appreciate it. Just a bit over twenty years ago, a man I hired to work alongside of me installing roofing shingles was the first to do me such an honor. I don't like it any more now than I did then. My greatest handicap as a maintenance man, my fingers are not so supple as in past decades, causing me to drop small objects, repeatedly, while performing certain tasks, and my eyes are slow to focus enough to help out with what I am trying to do. But I am far from handicapped, otherwise.
@edgarblythe,

Both are perfectly grammatical and exceedingly common for the English language, Ed.
@ossobuco,
You can relax about every silly notion about language that you were ever taught, Osso. Think about it - all the time that has been wasted filling kids heads with these dumb ideas.
It says at the bottom of the page: Three people unfriended you. All right. Who it is?
Been watching Elementary, the latest Sherlock Holmes series, on CBS. Last episode, Moriarity enters to torment Holmes. He has far reaching contacts and is seemingly beyond justice's grasp. Red John - oops, I mean Moriarity - is likely conjured by the same writers that work on The Mentalist. Or not. We shall see.
I hope to get outside to work on the property, but it is cold and wet. My feet have been cold and wet daily for a few weeks. I plan to wear heavier shoes next time out.
More football today. After the Ravens game, I was footballed out for the Forty Niners game and only watched it a few minutes at a time.
@edgarblythe,
I watched the 49ers game after I got home from my trip. They were yelping at SFO at the bars, so I knew they were winning. It was a fantastic game; the 9'ers won big!
@edgarblythe,
Edgar, I've been watching Elementary too. Moriarty was Holmes's nemesis in the oroginal Arthur Conan Doyle works. Maybe that's where the Mentalist writers got the idea.
I smiled when the name Moriarty came up. Aha, says I. The game is on.
@Roberta,
I know. I just mentioned it to tweak reyn's nose, because he complained about Red John. - Looks like Holmes is stuck with Watson.
I have mixed feelings over the fact I grew up loving shoot 'em up type movies and still do. That I like rascals like Jesse James. But, balancing my imbalance are books by the Maughms of the world. The Emily Dickensons. Many likely grow up knowing just the violent side of films and literature. I don't contend this makes them commit violent acts, but, perhaps, it makes perceptions of violence a bit jaded, for many. I do not believe in censorship. Mainly, education, parental guidance and fairly administered good laws and public policies. Which is where it ravels. How do you get consensus? Is adversarial always going to be the norm?
@edgarblythe,

Another stunning example of the power of propaganda, Ed. The modern ones are demonized, the ones back in the mists of time are lionized.
It should be a fun day. My only coworker is out with flu and its to be cold and rainy today and tomorrow. Fortunately, I have a built-in excuse. "I'm old."
My pre digital Sanyo TV no longer has high volume. I barely can make out what they are saying now. I have gone to menu settings but nothing there helps.
I've decided to paint my storage building yellow, with a green roof. It is mostly corrugated metal. May paint the door red or blue. - I still have to put a ridge on the extension.
“Tell me the word, mother, if you know now. The word known to all men.” This quote from Ulysses keeps running through my mind this morning. Perhaps because we have been discussing that book somewhat on a different forum. It's an earworm of the non musical sort.
A nagging thought: Even if effective gun control should miraculously be enacted, isn't it a little like shutting the gate after all the inmates have escaped? What lunatic allowed unrestricted gun sales in the first place?
I have kept a trap set for squirrels since the mass eviction and never really checked the bait (pecans, cracked). Had a look yesterday. The nuts were gone. Thinking it may be baby squirrels doing this, I adjusted the trap and put in more pecans. About an hour later, I discovered birds were raiding the trap. Guess it's time to take it away.
Vegas TV show is moderately entertaining. I watch it mostly but can miss some and not be worried about it.
The weather kept me mostly indoors yesterday. Now it's dry but still cold. Gonna see how it goes.
Lordy. It's 26 degrees out there. Had to drive the wife to work. Her car has a flat.
I think congress lacks the character to enact legislation, gun or otherwise. Obama's actions of yesterday likely will be the full extent of a 'fix' for gun violence.
Saw Tempest Bledsoe on a show last night. She only occasionally looked a bit like 'Rudy' of the Cosby show.
