@spendius,
I hope one checks in on you as you leave the bar.
Walked on a mirror today. I had laid it on the carpet, in anticipation of making a frame for it. But I got called away for two days. When I got up there today I saw that my patches on the Sheetrock needed touching up. They were a bit rough. As I completed that job, I turned around and walked about two steps. I felt the crunch beneath my shoe. 33 by 36. Kind of big.
@edgarblythe,
but you could see yourself, right?
because seven years bad luck
and being a vampire would just suck...
@edgarblythe,
That's nothing compared to what I did yesterday. My wife and I went to Five Guys hamburger joint, and as we were leaving the restaurant, I ran into the glass window......
@Rockhead,
It was face down. I saw no reflection in it. Now I am skeered to pick up the pieces tomorrow. (Yes, I left it there. It was quitting time)
@cicerone imposter,
That's a clean window.
We have a Five Guys here. Good burgers.
1059a. Poison ivy keeps breaking out in various places. I had been hoeing it down where it wants to climb the walls. Likely bits of it filled the air where I worked. H3O heals it up quickly enough, but first it must itch, to get located.
1060a. Lately, each time I see Punky scratch, I put H3O on her skin. It is helping more than the stuff I see at PetSmart.
1061a. I don't get all these calls you read about to impeach those ones people disagree with politically. My sister constantly posts calls to impeach Pelosi and Obama. Now it's a Supreme Court member. The logic of impeaching him when he votes exactly the same as the majority instead of impeaching the whole majority is lame. Impeaching him at all is utter idiocy.
1062a. I do love my sister, but I have had to shake my head in a perpetual swing since she grew up. Skull to crack coconuts with.
@edgarblythe,
1063a. I think you might explain to her ed (don't laugh) that Justice Roberts voted with the liberals so that the other four could retain their credibility as conservatives. One of the five conservatives had to do surely or create a constitutional crisis whereby Congress becomes irrelevant and the USSC becomes the legislative authority.
1064a. I think that the Court has simply left the decision on Obamacare to the electorate in November which will lead to the Republicans, imo, into the wastelands.
@spendius,
You could even be right, spendi. Time will put it to the test.
1063a. It could rain all week. A few days it is expected to not get to 90 out there. Nice for a July. Last year we were in the grip of the worst drought I have ever seen. If we get tropical storms here, it most often happens in August, seems like.
1064a. I wrote on my home repair thread about a man's toilet and solicited advice. Seems even a new one did not help. The new low flow toilets mandated by the law are great, for most of us, but this person has stool problems or else overloads it in other ways. I don't know what else to do.
1065a. I had to work yesterday. It started out as a simple case of the deadbolt would not function for a resident. In the past I put a drill on such a lock and had the door open in ten minutes. This time, the drill malfunctioned after I got started and I stubbornly persisted, instead of breaking a pane of glass and opening it from the inside. Since I keep an extra piece of glass on hand, that would have been relatively easy. It took a long time to get in the way I did it. I embarrassed myself somewhat. Oh, well. Such is the life of a maintenance man - or woman.
1066a. I wrote the following to my sister yesterday:
I am just saying that a democratic society has to have socialistic elements mixed with capitalism to work. One without the other leads to totalitarianism, or total breakdown. It is on the socialistic side to use tax money to build roads, schools, etc. Business is privately owned and allowed to make a profit. Tit for tat. While I am at it, you cannot shut down the nation by drying up the tax base, because there will be no more jobs, roads, schools, etc., with no money to keep it going. The rich "job makers" that got the Bush tax cuts have created more jobs overseas, but none here, after several years of getting the benefit. There has to be reciprocity for society to function.
1067a. I will back off arguing with her, because we will never see eye to eye on this.
1068a. Somebody that I have long respected has revealed that he will be shutting down his business from December 9, until the new year, in anticipation of the 2012 event, which he believes will render the store unnecessary. I feel a bit sad that he believes it strongly enough to take such a measure. On the other hand, he states that if he is wrong, which he allows may be so, he will be back. So what's the harm? I fear that his mental processes are in deterioration. On the other hand, it is not my right to even write this, most likely.
1069a. I got called in to the apartments last night. The office staff was already there. Seems a woman had called to say her schizophrenic son had quit responding to her emails and phone calls. My job: let the cops in, if it was determined to be necessary. We all found vantage points from which we could hide and watch as the woman dealt with her son. He did answer her knock and after a discussion, she decided he was well enough to be left alone. So, we left him up there with his imaginary girlfriend and went back home.
1070a. People took some of my crowns in Angry Birds. I have been battling to get them all back.
1071a. They say I don't need milk. I say I do, because it blends so well with my flax seeds and other stuff.
1069b. The man I wrote about from last night, I learned, has been given til the month's end to vacate, because he frightens some residents. His greatest act of menace? Sits on his patio all day and mostly looks straight ahead. I have seen him there daily for months. He never seemed scary to me. He loves living there. When he was given his notice, that's when he began acting erratically. It's a shame there are not many places for one such as him to go.
@edgarblythe,
I was going to say he could use a bidet to go along with the toilet, but now I read his new problem, this is very sad.
@ossobuco,
I think you are combining toilet guy and schizo guy, two separate men.
1072a. Last year at this time I was bitching most bitterly about drought. This year it has rained much more than necessary. In fact, it has rained daily for a week, with no less than 40% chances in the long range forecast. It is raining like hell out there right now. Fortunately there is little to no wind in it. I worry about my moringa trees drowning.
1073a. Schizo guy has been given to the end of July to move. This is one of the reasons he has become a problem. He loves living here, but his presence frightens some of the other residents.
1074a. I have begun to wonder why persons take seriously the pronouncements of people who do mind altering drugs. How is it their visions can have validity for ones other than themselves?
1075a. I took off early yesterday, because I had been up late the night before and was just plain tired from slogging about in heavy rain for two and a half hours. Right now the rain is much more. Oh well. Such are the fortunes of the poor maintenance men and women.
1076a. Holy chilibeans. 11.40 inches of rain today.
@cicerone imposter,
I had to drain pool water twice to keep it from overflowing.
