Are you kidding me, Andy? I have to log in many times a day. Sometimes I'm in the middle of writing something, and I'm flipped over to the log in page. Or I look to the left and all the avatars are gone. Gotta log in again. Look up and I don't have any posts. Gotta log in again. I was considering a logging in contest. Who logged in the most. Now you're telling me that your total is ONE?!
(Touching wood like crazy in Oz. Bet I've jinxed myself now!)

You are definiely The Log Queen, Roberta! That's the standing record.
This morning is the first time I've had to do it from an email update link.
But I'm going to shut up about this now ... I so know I'm hexing myself by all this boasting!

Well I'm comforted knowing others are having the same kinds of problems. Logging in every other time I visit the site is annoying, but its especially annoying having to hurry to get a post to take before everything grinds to a halt again.
But A2K is worth it. There's no other site quite like it.

Before I get a correction from the Editing Queen, obviously I meant definitely in that post.

From what I have seen I agree there is no other site like it. I never thought I would enjoy a site like this. I probably enjoy it too much (I postpone certain things sometimes but, as long as it is kept in perspective I see nothing wrong with that). It is fun and educational. So, someone like me who likes to learn finds this site very useful. I am also surprised from some friendships that I have made. Not just by posting but by email, phone and meeting in person. This was only after months of conversing and building a friendship relationship.
So, I am not recommending that everyone do that especially due to the age listed in the TOS. I am an adult and I use common sense.
As ben has said on the marlboro thread we consider ourselves like family. I do not remember exactly how she worded it but it was well said.
To stay on topic I have had no problems yet today.
If there are Queens here are there Kings also?

You're a cheetah.
You are, by definition, too fast for the hamsters.
Hence the log ins.
Slow down.........stroll a little....think of those wee little hamster leggies trying to keep up with you.....

It's bad, and I, for one, appreciate the improvement.

As far as cheetahs go, I'm just galumphing along. Not speeding. I'm sympathetic to the short-legged hamsters. But how many times in one day days a polka-dotted cat have to log in?
Roger, Improvement? Where? I've gotten two error messages in the past ten minutes. Make that three. I can't submit this post. I'll save it and post it later.

I can't even log onto a2k when it goes bonkers on me. Talk about having to sign in about a half dozen times every day, but as somebody already said "it's worth it!"

As a matter of fact, Roberta, yes. Running badly is a distinct improvement.

Very swift here. Has been for a bunch of hours.
I suppose it will gum up again, as people cotton on to this over time.... but right now it's very pleasant. Tnx, Cdk.

It's running smooth and fast for more than 24 hours now - seems the new RAMs are working.

The RAM was supposed to be installed today. The techs at the datacenter took the server offline and then realized they had the wrong type of RAM.
Anywho, they are rescheduling but it should be installed soon.

Not running fast for me at all, Walter. Also, the new RAM hasn't been installed yet.

Well, might be the lower traffic. But it was worse on the last Sundays while is was running fast and without all day yesterday (even with the Americans on the site).

Gotta admit that some times are better than others. But we're clearly having very different experiences on the same site. Strange.

I'm down under and happy to report a2k has been running extremely fast and smooth with absolutely no interruptions sofar today. A delight to be able to get on line immediately compared with the frustrations we have experienced for the past few months.
