You know it's been a bad couple of days when the temp. is 25 degrees F. and you find yourself saying, "Thank goodness! It's finally warming up."

Shocked

That's miserable - it is much warmer at Minus Twenty Degrees Farenheit than your temp...........!

That is - if you keep all skin covered and breath in shallow breaths !!

At least it feels better.......

Actually, Minus Forty is about the best - - as long as you have all skin covered .........

That's about the most survivable temp I have been in. I actually was in that temp for a week with no problem.

Shocked

Very Happy

True story............

The coldest I have been in outside is Minus 72 degrees F.

Ta Da.........!!

Sounds like Spring is there, ul... Shocked

Merry Andrew, Boston is one of the places I want to visit before passing on. I've been in all the states except those E and NE of NY. Someday.

Thanks ehBeth, for the update.

So sad to hear, Stradee. I was apprehensive when you posted that last entry about her wandering off. They do that sometimes when they know it's time. Mr condolences.

Thank you, Merry

I was worried, and thankfully both days Vastrada left the property, she returned home.

Today, surrounded by much love and comfort my Stradee took her last breath at home.

Dearly loved and missed terribly.

Not trying to make fun of your loss, Stradee. Recently, our good friend from New Orleans told us her aunt (86 yrs old) is visiting her and had lost a friend. Our friend said she was surprised at how 'normal and calm' her aunt was at receiving the sad news. When Patti told me this - I said, "At her age she has had plenty of practice." Sad, I know, but, my mom, who is turning 92 - said something similar a few years ago - I told her that as sad as friends passing is, it made her a survivor.

Thanks everyone.

Dan, no matter how old we are though, losing friends and family is always difficult ~ and our companion animals take hold of our hearts in such a way that our lives are never quite the same. Each spirit is so very unique and wonderful. Stradee was one of a kind, as all our babies are.

Our journey on the planet would certainly be less, imo, without the love and companionship animals bring to our lives.

A lovely tribute sent to me from Maggie ~

I agree, Stradee. That's a beautiful tribute. It's like my Patti said once long ago when she asked my mom if puppies went to Heaven - My mom, being 'old' school, said no. Patti said if her puppies didn't go then she wouldn't either.
Then, my mom said if that's the case then the puppies go too. Very Happy

Each time one of our puppies time has come I carve a stone and place it over the grave.

clicked after I finished hollering at one of the dogs. mr. bailey decided he'd see if he could jump a short fence to go after a raccoon strolling across a higher fence. well, he could. I had to break a plastic garden bench to get him back out from the little alley he'd jumped into.

silly dog. as if he could survive a fight with a raccoon (the thing easily outweighs him by 100%)
Evil or Very Mad Confused Evil or Very Mad

told him I still love him, but that I'm not happy with what he did.

bad bad bad

ehBeth, sorry for chuckling {a very funny story} that brought to mind my Brandy, who was the first dog we had adopted when my daughter was just a toddler.

The neighbors cat decided to sit on the fence every day and check out Brandy. That day he had had enough of the kitten invading his space, even though he got along well with cats, so i was surprised when Brandy ran across the yard, jumped on the fense, then leaped on the neighbors garage roof chasing the cat, then he sat there waiting for me to retrieve him.

One ladder, and a precarious span from the fense to the garage roof....managed carrying Brandy from the roof to the fence, half way down the ladder and safely back in the yard.

The kitten? Calmly sitting on the neighbors porch grooming.

Racoons are a whole nuther story though, but generally will run away before attacking a dog unless the dog happens to be a coyote.

Your Bailey is not a coyote, just one very courageous puppy!
