@hamburger,
I moved from Boston 4 years ago and now live in So CA. If I never see snow again I won't miss it. Gimme the sunshine baby!

Another 1" or so last night, and it's coming down now, looks more like freezing rain or it's about to be (it's 33 degrees right now).

gotta love lewis black

"They've gotta stop reporting wind chill. That's nonsense. It really is. I don't know where they came up with it, why they came up with it, but it's a lie. They come on, "Well, it's 27 degrees today, but with the wind chill, it's minus 3." ... Well, then it's minus 3, asshole! I don't need to know what the weather was like if the conditions were perfect!"

@djjd62,
Not as cold today as it was yesterday, but we got the snow. It snowed from about 5 p.m. yesterday to 9 a.m. today. Now a brief break til the snow starts/re-starts. The snow plow has been through a coupla of times this morning. Gotta go out and shove the crust out from the windrow.

will be snowing until late afternoon - about another 20 cm - higher in drifts .
temperature supposed to moderate slightly during the afternoon - but nights will still be cold.
i'm glad we don't live in northern ontario - kapuskasing is MINUS 28 C right now - they don't even list the "windchill" <GRIN> .
btw that's were the european and japanese car companies do their "winter testing" .

@hamburger,
My Japanese cars have completely underwhelmed me in terms of the winter readiness.

Granted, the 1999 Honda did a lot better then the 1990 Toyota or the 1989 Toyota. Still, neither was a match for the old Buick...

Our forecast was for 4 above (F) today, but I've been in the car throughout the day, and the thermometer has yet to show me a positive temp. Nice fluffy snow that dumped yesterday, easy to scoop, but the plows took the opportunity to widen the roads -- which meant a fresh bunker of hard gray plow ice in the driveway this morning. Did manage to shovel out the patio, though, and free up the BBQ and the fire bowl. I'm thinking Christmas eve inferno, I am. Supposed to be in the teens that evening...

We got the cold, just not the snow. Currently -10 windchill (3.7 "real" temp). Next significant precipitation expected on Wednesday -- when highs will be in the upper 40's, and it's supposed to be rain. Columbus is so weird.

The lady's here a lot, but sleeps at her place (which has landlord-paid heat).

It was a 2-dog night last night. Woke up with a ball of dog on either side of my legs, couldn't roll over without kicking one of them. If the third drags her creaky arthritic ass onto the bed, I'll know we've got some cold.

@patiodog,
Interesting split of her time.....

I have a one-cat night starting as soon as the thermo dips into the low 70s at night. That's when he starts sleeping on me with such conviction that he body-surfs when I move, somehow staying on the topside.

It has been raining consistently here on the Big Island for the past three days, something like two inches an hour. Thank Zeus it ain't snow.
