@jcboy,
We thought The Grey was a horror film, so we kept passing it up at Redbox. Might have to check it out now (I see it's action/adventure).

@Irishk,
Liam Neeson is really good in this. One of the few older actor guys who can convincingly pull off this kind of physicality (he turns 60 June 7).

I've just seen District 9. It's an excellent sci-fi movie and a brilliant metaphor for apartheid South Africa. It sells a lot about how slum dwellers are exploited by criminal gangs. It's also pleasing to see such a really good film coming out of Africa.

My husband had copied part of "The Singing Detective" on VHS, years ago. I had never seen it, until a few days ago. The picture was grainy, and the sound was lousy. He was so enamored of the film, that we bought it on disc.

The video on the disc is not the best, as the show, from BBC, was broadcast in 1986. The audio is pretty good, and is very helpful in understanding British English.

The film is about a mystery writer, who is in the hospital with a severe dermatological condition, which renders him practically helpless. The film shows the plight of the protagonist, woven with some of his writings, and immersed in the patient's hallucinations. It is also a musical, with actors breaking into song. I have seen 3 of the six episodes, and it is absolutely captivating, though rather bizarre.

Do not confuse this with the American remake, in2003, with Robert Downey. The British version is the real thing!

We watched Safe House last night. Whoa...Denzel and Ryan Reynolds -- what more do you need?

@Irishk,
We did too! I did enjoy that movie!

Last night we put Antonio to bed and watched a movie called The last house on the left. I wish I had never watched it. Too brutal, we thought it was just a scary movie but it turned out to be very violent.

Tonight Marco and I watched a movie on PPV starring Guy Pearce called “Look-Out” boy was that dumb. I was so bored with it I can’t remember what the film was about.

@jcboy,
Thanks for the review! We'll be skipping that one.

Last night we watched Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. Great, fun movie. If you're a fan of Ewan McGregor, it's a must-see!

@Aaliy,
I purchased another wireless headphone (Got a SONY at 60% off, because it was an open box) for our bedroom tv last week, but haven't watched any dvd's or VCR's lately. Gonna have to look through my movie collection, and see if I can find something interesting for tonight.

"My Sassy Girl" (2000) is probably the most popular film to come out of Korea. It begins with outrageous slapstick comedy but then settles into a story where you really want to know what happens next. I loved the way the ending tied together all the crazy incidents that the young couple experienced.
