If it hasn't been said yet , Jesus is a wise choice for the guest list . You are still covered if you run short of wine or other provisions.

Laurie Cabot - http://www.controverscial.com/Laurie%20Cabot.htm

Gerald Gardner -http://www.geraldgardner.com/

I would basically put these two at the table together to see them butt heads. They both have a completely diffrent take on modern witchcraft and i would love to hear what they have to say and why they agree/disagree.

( sorry i didnt expand.. )
Nelson Mandella - From everything I hear and all the interviews I have seen, he seems to be an amazing man. Peaceful yet forceful.. embodying those traits the way he does, makes him interesting to me.

Joan of Arc -
There were SO many stories behind this woman.. Im not even sure she was real? hence.. the invitation. If she was real, I would love to hear her tale.. if she wasnt.. then I have a vacant seat.

Cleopatra-
Simple. Female queen of an enormous empire.. She lives in a time that I am facinated with. The beliefs that the egyptians had at that time, we can not understand to day. We can project, imagine, and piece together the things we see.. but unless we live it, we have no idea . I would love to hear her tell me about it. Clarify my questions, and show me her pride and strength..

Geramino-
From what I understand of this man, he died at the turn of last century as the last recorded mohican? ( spelling..?) He still had the knowledge of his tribes old ways, their medicine, their beliefs and their struggles. He would be able to tell the truth about what happened to those millions of indians who were here in america . From him I would want to learn history about his tribe, maybe my own family tribes, medicine and ancient beliefs.

The Ice man.
I would want to hear about life in the 'ice age'.
I would like to see his reaction to modern life, food, clothing etc..I would want to learn about the beliefs that the people of his time had.

Kunta Kinte-
He is from africa in the time of slave trade. He was part of .. I dont remember the name of the tribe.. but alot of african americans can trace thier family back to this certain area of africa that he was from. From him I would want to learn about african tribes. More so for an answer to my own Roots ( pun intended.. he was Alex haleys great grandfather..) . I am african and cherokee.. so Kunta and Geranimo would be a combination for me to learn about MY background..

Genghis Kahn-
He is one of the only people in history to have such a HUGE empire.. just him.. He conquered asia, was the leader of the mongolian people.. and many MANY other conquests under his belt, I would love to learn how one person had that kind of charisma to inspire that many people to.. follow their lead, take their orders and command such a respect over that vast amount of land.

Dalai Lama-
I just saw him in a public speech this past sunday. his personality was amazing, his insight was inspiring. His home land of Tibet has been taken over by China. He hasnt been able to go home for years. He is a hunted man in his own homeland.. i want to learn from him the tolerance he displays for the people who invaded his home and killed his people. I want to know the peace he has found with himself to where he can do as much as he does just by himself around the world that STILL benefits his homeland as people lye scared of China.

Laurie Cabot and Gardner would be spiritual grounds for me. They would be able to teach me more about my path , my beliefs , and my spiritual decisions. And- I want to hear them disagree and agree. I want to hear what it was like for people of pagan back grounds at the turn of the century ... just after " witch burnings".

I don't remember what my choices were any more and I don't really feel like going all the way back looking for them. Gimme a little time and I'll come up with a new list that'll probably have no relation to any previous list.

MA, I just found my original post and will post it again, since I haven't yet had the opportunity to meet with them at dinner.

So many people, so little time. Many of the choices have me thinking, "Yes! That person would be worth cooking for!

Old age is creeping in--forgot to post my list.

Golda Meir would be first on my list. She was tough, motherly, couageous and smart. Defintiely one of my heroes.

Anonymous. Imagine all the women who had to remain anonymous because it was indecent for them to have minds of their own--to be able to invent and discuss and compose with the best of the men.

Vaclav Havel, for the reasons mentioned plus his courage in writing directly to the government, staing his reasons for wanting a free society.

Ben Franklin, just because I've always loved him and, of course, because he was one of the most creative and brilliant of the founding fathers. (Actually, if the virgin Mary came, I'd seat her next to Ben. It's about time that poor woman had some fun!!)

J.S. Bach, a brilliant composer and a family man who passed on his love for music along with his talent. Too many great men could only focus on their own careers, always leaving their families in the background.

Average Citizen. Probably of ancient Rome, but I'd like to have a discussion with the average person from each era. Famous people made an impression on society, but the average person quietly lived in the real, everyday society.

Stradivarius, the great violin maker. Artisans are always wonderful people to know. They live their passion everyday with a perfection few ever experience.

My grandmother. She taught school in Texas, living with each child's family for a couple of months at a time. She was so intelligent and tough, with a dry sense of humor. She also had a soft lap and could read stories like no one else. She smelled like Ivory soap.

Seamus Heaney, the poet. He writes of small things and ordinary people, bringing to life the beauty of ordinary things.

Gandhi. Leaders of his caliber are all too rare. We need him so badly right now. Maybe he could shame some of the arbitrary, greedy politicians that are in power. No, I don't think so, they wouldn't get it.

Hey, Roberta, how about you coming over? They all should meet a goil from da Bronx!!

And, of course, Dys even though you and Dys might put me over the limit.
