To test who's faith: the baby with two heads? The baby that's born with HIV/AIDS?

The parents. Imagine how much they are going to worry, panic, etc.

I see the "love" already; test the parents by sacrifcing the baby. WOW!

You know guys, that we are running around in circles. It is useless to attempt to use logic and reason with people whose entire raison d'etre is based on faith and irrationality.

I really feel sorry for some people. If they ever got a tiny insight as to what it is they actually believed in, their entire "superstructure" would come tumbling down.

Phoenix, You're right! That is their big fear; something they believed in all their lives will crumble into nothingness. A scary thought for many. To admit they were wrong that long is scary.

For some people, it is better that they have something to believe in. From what I have observed over the years, it is the people who are less secure, and less grounded in life, who look for something to believe in, outside of themselves. The more insecure and needy will be attracted to radical religions.................those beliefs offer such certainty.

Their devotion to that religion has to be absolute. If they question, they will readily see the sham, and will not have anything to replace it.

It's to test their faith, any calamity someone faces is to test their faith. Will they remain steadfast or patient, or just give up on God and stray?

"Be sure we shall test you with fear and hunger, someloss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil), but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere." (Quran 2:155)

Holy ****! So I am responsible for everything that occurs in the world, now? And here I was a fool thinking that some bad stuff just happens because the world just isn't all pleasure.

But no. My lack of faith is why.

Sure puts us piddly humans in the center of all the action. Reminds me of medieval times. When we still believed we were the center of the universe.

Just thoughts.....on what a large burden it must be to bear...so much needless suffering and guilt for things beyond our control, occupies so much energy, no wonder there is so little left to actually do anything for the two-headed kid. Crying or Very sad

This life is nothing but a transit to the Hereafter. Like it or not this is the truth from your Creator; you will all be returned to Him on a day when the disbeliever will wish they were dust. This life you so much desire is merely a fraction of a second in the Hereafter. Anyways, there's no use trying to talk some sense into you.

[W]ho hears the signs of Allah recited to him and then persists in his arrogance just as if he had never heard them. Give him the news of a painful punishment. When he does learn something of Our signs, he mocks them. Such people will have a humiliating punishment. (Surat al-Jathiyya, 8-9)

Unfortunately that devotion often entails shoving it on others as Raul has aptly demonstrated in this thread.

Do you mean the belief in God or the belief that there is no God?

I'm not doing for this my enjoyment or to make it seem my religion is better than yours sort of debate. I'm doing it to save you from the fate you will face if you continue with your ignorance, this my job as a Muslim is to warn others. God does not need us to worship Him, He is free of all needs - it we who need Him, especially when there seems to be no escape from this cruel life. If He wanted he couldv'e made us all pious believers. But he gave us the ultimate choice. This is my duty though as God made me a Muslim and had shown me the right path, now it's my job to try and do the same to those who weren't as fortunate as I am. As it is God who guides his creations, you do not guide yourself - God guides onto the right path if He wills. This part of my contract as a Muslim and it is my job to fulfill it or else I will be accounted on it on the Day of Judgment.

No, god doesn't care. He only commands his followers "have no other gods before me."

I think Raul that if people were to acknowledge the possibility of God...their question to this might be....who is God to test me? Who does God think he is?

Who is God to allow two headed children?

When you see a two headed child and look upon the parents you feel sorry for them and the child. How terrible it must be to be in such a position.

Never thinking that the parents and the child may be feeling pity for you for a much more horrible condition .

Bartikus, The people that believe in the christian religion are full of conflct; first they tell us god gave us free will, then god will test us. That they can decipher all this conflict is beyond my imagination.

When you see a two headed child...what do you think that says about God?

He is you Creator and your Sustainor. He is the One that gave your eyesight and your hearing so that you could use your intellect, but unfortunately you do not. How can you question his motives when you do not know what He knows?
