Well, since I won't read your other posts, David, that does not help me, or the many others who are irritated by the type and color. It seems you don't really wish to communicate but just to yell.

I'm amazed that anyone engages with you.

Well, he has become a source of amusement. And, since he takes such pains to seek attention, he must really be in need of it. At least he can't shoot anybody as long as he stays at his puter.

To be fair (something I'm not usual at) When I first moved to south-eastern New Mexico I kept a Marlin 22 at my back door and in the winter time I would go out in the early morning and climb up on the roof with my rifle and walk around the edge of the house shooting the rattlesnakes that came up to lie along side the house foundation for warmth before I could let the dogs out into the yard. Guns do still have their place in the old south-west even though I have not fired any of the guns I own in at least 20 years my Winchester 94 is still at on my mantel (as Walter can attest).

.22 rifle is a good choice for killing rattlesnakes.
I 'm sure that your dogs appreciate your effort.

A hostage/shooting situation broke out here in beautiful Amish country a few miles from my house (right in the area where themovie " Witness" was filmed)

Some nut drove up to an AMish SChool and tried to take hostages and then just opened fire on the kids. Apparently, at least 4 kids were shot and the roads are all closed off. (my wife tried to run over to the Amish plain goods store and was turned back by cops in flak jackets).

The Amish do not countenance hand guns though some (in rumpsringah phase) will go hunting with shotguns.
I dont know. This entire area is the embodiment of peeaceful countryside that to envision cops in flak jackets just leaves one questioning our entire gene pool.

The students NEEDED immediate access
to defensive firepower.

If only those schoolchildren had guns, why it might not have happened.

That 's right,
or if it DID happen,
at least they 'd have a reasonable chance
of successfully handling the situation,
not just leaving their futures to the DISCRETION
of the violent criminal.

It's funny how whenever someone opens fire on innocent people,
it somehow becomes an argument for MORE guns in the community.

Its NOT funny if the victims CANNOT end
the problem by ending the criminal predator,
and if thay are simply left to the discretion
of the murderer.

When the emergency arose
the victims wud be yearning for defensive firepower
the way a drowning man yearns for dry land.

The perp is a milk-tank-truck driver, and a sportsman who had these rubberized deer bow targets in his yard. He was known as Chuckie in georgetown where he lived with his family. He picked up milk at the dairy farms and Ive never known him to be in the slightest other than just a normal(albeit loud) outdoorsey guy. Id see him at the fire company and Ducks Unlimited dinners and he was well known in the Amish community.

I'm beginning to wonder who becomes the arbiter for ownership of any kind of guns. Ive seen hunters kill pets and then try to exact some retribution for the pet owner being aggreived and now this totally irrational act against a community that only loves and respects peace and to be left alone. The world of violence comes crashing in so that my little home town area is thrust on National TV for something that Im sure we will never live down.

Maybe some kinds of gun controls are warrented.

How do u figure that murderers
wud be stopped by gun controls that " are warrented "
when thay can MAKE their own firepower,
with little inconvenience in a short time,
or if too lazy or clumsy to do so,
can buy it from an underground gunsmith
or blackmarket gun merchant ??

Some years ago,
I read of criminals in prison
manufacturing a fully functional submachinegun
in the prison workshop, one-part-at-a-time,
with the guards around,
and assembled it in private ?

If thay can do that IN PRISON,
then what are the limits of what a criminal
free on the outside can do,
with access to freely available engineering data
for construction plans, and with unsupervised access
to the hardware stores of America ?

Explain THAT to me ???

Do you assume that everybody shares your fetish for killing machines?

No; only persons of sound mind.

I did, since age 8,
with no ill effects.
The kids in my neighborhood in Arizona
did, uneventfully.

Failure to be sufficiently well armed
in an emergency can cause the untimely DEATH
of the helpless victim,
so, yeah, Mame: I 'm serious.

It wud be helpful if safe handling of firearms
were taught in the public schools,
the same as safe swimming is.

Has anyone noticed
that when the police
are studying in THEIR classes,
that no one bursts in on them,
shooting up the classroom,
nor taking any hostages of the police ??

Have u ever wondered Y
criminals choose to attack UNARMED students
rather than armed police, when thay are studying ??

In other words, you cannot challenge what was said because it is true. Are you having trouble deciphering between rude and truth?
