I did not attack him (Clinton) with every breathe or call him derogatory names.

And yet, it was done by many others...and still goes on today.

I am no great defender of Bill Clinton, but it seems to me the poisonous partisan atmosphere we enjoy today dates to well before Bush. The party faithful on both sides seem to have selective, convenient memories.

You mean as opposed to all the Clinton bashing that the conservatives did and continue to do?

What goes around comes around.

Love your signature lines. (Now if you change them, I could end up looking like an idiot, so I am reproducing them here for posterity)

"Remember there is a big difference between kneeling down and bending over" - Frank Zappa

"Religion is excellent stuff for keeping common people quiet." - Napoleon Bonaparte

"If all the historic books of the Bible were blotted from the memory of mankind, nothing of value would be lost.." - Robert Ingersoll

Is it anything like seal bashing?
That would be a little unecessary....even for him.

Thanks. I've been thinking about changing them, I haven't done anything new for about a year or so, but I do like these and they are so true.

Then again, I've got a million of 'em. Wink

Apparently it's saying anything remotely negative against Bush, even if it's true.

Ah, an all encompassing, non-defined term which in essence means nothing?

Suppression of civil liberty in the name of national security is an old story in the United States. It has happened repeatedly in times of war or fear since the early days of the republic. In 1798, just seven years after the Bill of Rights was added to the Constitution, the Sedition Act made it a crime to criticize the president; the supposed reason was the danger of French Jacobin terror infiltrating America. The Civil War, World Wars I and II, and assorted episodes of national fear were all made occasions for punishing speech and depriving people of due process of law.

We are in another bad time for civil liberties now...

It was probably posted earlier in this thread, but the thread used to be in the roundtable and was not meant for the general consumption of A2K. Otherwise I would have posted it here in the politics forum.

blatham's quote "The Civil War, World Wars I and II, and assorted episodes of national fear were all made occasions for punishing speech and depriving people of due process of law." I'm very sensitive to this issue because during WWII we were put into American concentration camps without being charged of any crime or espionage, and they used "security" to justify our incarceration. Our families lost whatever little we had - having just barely survived the depression, our mother responsible for three children. Most Americans that currently support the Patriot Act doesn't understand anything about the Constitution or our Bill of Rights. They think it doesn't affect them, because they are WASP, and those in control of our government are made up of WASP. It makes me very angry to watch what's happening to our country under Bush and his criminal element. He wants to bring democracy to the world while at the same time take away our freedoms. How insane!

That pretty much sums it up.

Either that or "you're not kissing his ass, so you must be bashing him!"

McG,

I have just read all of your posts on this thread. Never in any of your posts did you clearly state your definition of Bush bashing. One more time I ask, please define Bush bashing. Without a clear definition how can anyone decide if they are bothered by it or not.

It's almost 24 hrs later and I'm still waiting for you, McGentrix, to post a simple declarative sentence stating what Bush bashing is...

ci,

Yup, he ain't got one. It's just a bunch of inflammatory garp so he can spout off about St Bush, and take pot shots at any and all who disagree. It beats some other hobbies and proves nada.

If you really don't know, nothing I say will inform you. But, I think that you do know, but wish to pigeon hole me into a statement and I won't give you the pleasure.

I meant what I said and to the audience for which it was inteded.
