Old stuff:
The original teacher's desk. Over the years successive teachers wrote their name in the bottom of the centre drawer and the years in which they taught. Pretty cool.
This cast iron vent was in the original floor under the original wood stove. There were wooden box-like "vents" under the building to draw fresh air in for the wood stove. We added 4 wine corks as feet to turn it into a trivet.
These tools came in handy for our latest project. (Haven't got all the photos downloaded, er, uploaded?, yet but I will.) The angle thingy at the top belonged to my grandfather and has the name of the lumber company he worked for stamped on one end. (If anyone knows its proper name I'd love to know.) The compass has a grease pencil instead of chalk as Mr Fix-it used it to draw circles on steel roofing. My mom used it when she taught school. The plumb at the bottom belonged to Mr Fix-it's dad. I guess by now it's obvious we like old things.
