(WOW! nice one)

Its not just the stars
flip the view, see across the bars
life has set to block the note
feelings had to vent
I still see her in that bed
makes me weak and even pant
places we should have went
and million things I never meant

Worshipped in the name of Progress,
Vilified as Nature's bane.
Varied as the wheel or nano,
Better access to the brain.

Technology itself is neutral,
Just our ingenuity.
But the impact it has on us
Is the thing I wait to see.

So much rests upon intention.
Use that power for good or ill.
Masters of the world of matter
Bent to their own master's will.

Politicians are not proven
To act solely for the best.
Get the Party re-elected
And the devil take the rest.

Filled my tank to brimming with gas
To disclose the cost is way too crass
Regret to say, this too will pass
The day I'm buried beneath the grass

the future of this world is less vivid
authorities place our minds in timid
sticking to their primitive ways and rigid
our leaders, worse than a gimmick
turning this amazing block into liquid

So how about this. Someone gives a word and the next person that comes along gives a poem about said word, or has the word in the poem. Be nice and let others in the rotation though. This is orignal writing through, so please only stuff you have written yourself. It doesn't have to be one you just came up with off the top of your head, but that works too Smile

A pond of broken glass
across your gaze
A horn of hopeless jazz
throughout the haze
-
how thoughtless of you to leave the room

My natural bent
Is the antithesis of my upbringing
So I strive, am vigilant,
To leave the anger turning
Over, parked, and live instead
With laughter, love and singing.

roll up your reef
perhaps the storm will be brief
not resembling the body with its language
exposing what's in the cage
defying intent and lineage
some pearls you can't hide
their victory belong on stage
just a glare kills every rage

From my bedroom window I see sun
Refracting in the drops upon the web
Delineating gossamer hawsers mooring
Fences to weeds, the chook-shed to the trees.

The prints in morning dew bespeak the tails
Of wallabies, who, seeking greener feed
Invade my block and gently co-exist,
Proximity that brings me to my knees.

@spikepipsqueak,
I fear, with the new design of the site, I'll be playing alone on this ground from now on.

Cocoa. Comfort.
Liquid Nanna.
Pat for effort.
Warm, brown manna.

Balm for trouble.
Soothing, healing.
Cuddles you and
Restores feeling.

By the fireside,
In the kitchen,
Tucked in bed, tight,
Cocoa's bitchin'.

Kitchen, if there's anyone there.

@spikepipsqueak,
I'd never seen this thread before - perhaps there is hope for the site Wink

and I'm not a poet, but I'll throw in a baby haiku to keep things moving til the regulars return ...

In the beginning,
there was toast and tea and jam.
My kitchen basics.

@ehBeth,
I do enjoy this; but I don't want to hog it.

When life gives you lemons......
Trade both in and get a decent car,
Or fix the best, grow mushrooms in the other,
Or roll it off a hill to see how far
It will get.

But lemonade will always have its uses.
More quenching than the stuff from out ' the can.
Help kids evolve their high financial ruses.
Look closely, in the boy we see the man.

@spikepipsqueak,
Palms

Palms are dirty, palms they sweat
palms are pretty in the dark sunset
palms always open, palms never close
palms feel the clasp of one who knows.

@Rockhead,
What I don't know
Of Arkansas
Would fill a book.

U.S., unfounded
Image of wheat.

From somewhere,
I see a smile
In a craggy,
Tanned face.

prickly hours, victory days
nightmares and memories
anniversaries and birthdays missed
smiles, grins and shouts,
as I left some people pissed
minutes of slavery to this divine poetry
when inanimate splendor as a tree
stood in my heart with every tick
great seconds and what's to be
all written and engraved
in that calendar behind the door

@mngunim,
My sea is cold foam this time of year.
In Summer, it's blue glass, curving.
Six foot tall, supporting fish, and gleaming,
But now it fringes my bay with cold, clean lace.
