So max, want us to keep quiet about the link or not? Kiddin' :-)
I wouldn't say yer exactly "off" . . . we all make mistakes from time to time . . .

Does it make you feel good to put down someone? The boss was a good, CDK put the a sting in it and you like to kick a guy when he's on the ground! Nice - very nice!
Yes Christ is in heaven, So what do you think he is doing to day. Would he be doing anything different than was his custom here on earth.
Any god you have to be "saved from" or "saved for" is only god to a dyslexic.

But, you don't KNOW that, right?

One: I sure hope you are not one of those ill-informed souls who think being agnostic means not knowing anything.
Two: The comment you questioned was an opinion.
Jeez...another change. And on page 15 yet.
Someone said:
First of all the Bible is quite clear that anyone who believes in Jesus is saved.

If you believe the Bible, Satan and his sidekicks believe in Jesus. I assert they aren't saved.
I know, Frank. I usually avoid these discussions. I haven't even read the thread. I just jumped in when I saw Saved from and Saved for.
I'm being difficult.
Sofia, How do you know they ain't saved? c.i.
They sure seem to have as long a life as any god. c.i.
I'm pretty sure I "asserted."
I try not to imagine I know anything in the spiritual realm, other than me own business.
But, believing the Bible, I'm feeling pretty strong about the assertion.
religion
To my mind (figure of speech) the most outrageous feature of christianity is the notion that all one has to do to be saved is BELIEVE. My god, what possible rewardable virtue can there be in gullibility? If I do not believe that E=MC2 does this make me in any way less virtuous than one who does? It may make me less informed, but less moral? Gasp. At least in most religions of the world there is a place for behavior. Religions usually serve to regulate behavior, to make some actions punishable by the ancestors or gods and other actions punishable by man (if there's some kind of legal-penal system). But it seems that churches require only members who pay tithes and honor authorities of the church--as well as the civil/secular officials authorized by the church (remember Kings are crowned in Europe by church officials). Membership and fidelity to churches is expressed in professions of belief. If all christians were to break this connection between belief and fidelity to a church by swearing that they BELIEVE in Christ as their savior but do not accept the authority of any priest or minister, of any church, the churches of christianity would have to make major theological adjustments.
relilion
Addendum: it is hypocritical in the extreme to constrain people merely to profess beliefs in order to maintain high social moral status. This permits "christians" to exploit their neighbors while retaining moral rectitude.
Yes it appears many christians believe all they have to do is accept Christ as their savior and all is well with there soul while doing not so good things to their fellow man, Maybe accepting Christ means accepting his ways and living a new life. the accepting Christ may be just the frist step.
truth
Ibredd, yes. If religion does not make us better people, in terms of our behavior towards our neighbors, what real value does it have? Saving our fictitious souls from a fictitious Hell is not enough.
JLN, Unfortunately, many religious people believe in those values of soul, heaven and hell while treating their brothers and sisters with disdain. c.i.

Yes, and it's also unfortunate that many people spend inordinate amounts of time and energy slamming organized religion in weak attempts to elevate their perception of their own relative "righteousness".
snood, Like your "slamming." If the shoe fits.....
