It's a town in which all are kin
Not just the dogs madly barkin' (i changed a word in the 2nd line to make the meter right)
but outsiders come
and spoil all the fun
of interfamlial larkin

I wish I had just a penny
For each time that I popped a benny
In wide eyed wonder
I'd count the plunder
Cents you know I have not any

As buds shoot and spring so diurnal
The forethought of growth ever vernal
Reminds me of changing
Phases, rearranging
Earth's cyclical dance, the eternal.

Leaves sing- chromatic radiance
Fall's song- gold and scarlet cadence
Bare voices calling
Winter's forestalling
Soft adagio audience

With a Lear of malicious intent
For words droll, delicious, hell bent
wit honed like a rapier,
he set pen to paper,
then slept, sated- wickedness spent.

His dreams do not bear repeating
All the morph or Nyx secreting
As soon as his eyes closed
Strange vistas were transposed
Normalcy quickly receeding

When you fortify tea

Let's put that into limerick form....

Wondrous sights you will see, yes you will
When you fortify tea with a pill

Wondrous sights you will see, yes you will
When you fortify tea with a pill
Or an organic leaf,
that brings instant relief
And then you may choose- smoke or swill.

(Can someone please tell me the official syllable count? I thought someone said it was 8-8-6-6-8. Then someone else had 7-7-6-6-7.
Is there any consensus?)

I think 8-8-6-6-8 is best, and is the traditional form, but I think some temporary variation is allowable if you have a blindingly brilliant idea which won't fit.

When Alice first viewed the white rabbit
It disappeared under her habit
Which she had alluring
Especially when touring
It stayed there so no one could nab it.

In Paris, it's sunny today
And the English are all out to play
Some drinking cafe cremes
Some ogling all the femmes
Many strolling the Champs Elysees .

Heard a story the other morn
About a poor fella from Quorn...
His pulse was erratic...
It was quite dramatic
As he couldn't play his brass horn.
