I just thought of this:

"Life sometimes corrupts, while love instructs."

This is a place to put your rhymes, (clean) limericks and lyrics.

Share your poetry here.

It can be your own poetry or something that you like in particular written by others.

Leprechauns: Facts About the Irish Trickster Fairy
https://www.livescience.com/37626-leprechauns.html

Other researchers say that the word leprechaun may be derived from the Irish leath bhrogan, meaning shoemaker. Indeed, though leprechauns are often associated with riches and gold, in folklore their main vocation is anything but glamorous: they are humble cobblers, or shoemakers. Shoemaking is apparently a lucrative business in the fairy world, since each leprechaun is said to have his own pot of gold, which can often be found at the end of a rainbow.

In ancient times
Across the land
Savage enzymes
Grew out of hand
Creating Republican
Men and gals
With rubber brains
And heavy jowls
Stamping in fundamental
Stamping out fun
Stalling time incremental
At the point of a gun
Building chromium towers
Upon cesspool lakes
Burning freedom's flowers
If that's what it takes

If there should ever come a day when I must leave your heart, know that I will scream and cry, knowing we must part. It's been so sweet and warm in here, I couldn't bear to leave. And know right now I shed a tear, and know you can believe, there's nowhere else I'd rather be, in Heaven or on Earth. There's nowhere else for me to go. Take this for what it's worth. If I should leave your heart behind, you'll know throughout the years, that though I had to leave your heart, I left it filled with tears.

@Ponderer,
SUNSET

eighty years toward my sunset
I’ve trudged this dusty track
Eighty years of blood and tears and sweat
With no way of getting back
Cos I’ve got to keep on moving
Towards that setting sun
And the hills ahead are proving
There’s still heaps more to be done.

Up ahead it’s much too dark to see
What’s hidden on life’s track
Yet the things I’ve left behind me
Seem so clear when looking back
I’ve done things that filled my heart with joy
And things that caused me pain
Along the track, I’ve sired a girl and boy
And I’d do it all again.

A woman walks here by my side
We’ve been together all these years
At fourteen she swore she’d be my bride
And share my joys and tears
She lit the pathways that I’ve trod
In a world so dark and deep
And if there’s one thing that I’d ask my God
This angel woman, let me keep.

For she will lay me down to rest
Where the sweetest blossoms fall
And I know, beyond this sunset
Someday I’ll hear her call
Then once again I’ll stand here by her side
When that new day has begun
And hand and hand I’ll wander with my bride
Toward another setting sun.

@The Anointed,
To My Daughter.

Don't you dance to the tune the world is playing
Don't you march to the rhythm of their drum
Your pathway through life has been determined
And set before you is the race that you must run.

There are many who are called, but few are chosen
He chooses only from the cream of the crop
And though many may fall along the wayside
You my child will endure and reach the top.

Just to see you standing high upon His mountain
With the crown of his glory on your head
And to know, that I played a small part in it
Before I travel through the valley of the dead.

So goodbye my child, I travel on forever
On the stream of time that flows toward the end
But I know some day we'll all be back together
In the oneness of our Saviour, Lord and friend...... The Anointed.

@The Anointed,
I’ve always lived the life before me
Never strove for fame or glory
I’ve let many of life’s chances pass me by
They were all there for the taking
But nothing in my life was lacking
Was I wrong to live that life and if so, Why?
The path of life I choose to follow
May be long and straight and narrow
And there’s times that I might have strayed a bit
But the love of she who bore my children
By who my sins have been forgiven
Is the one who always draws me back to it.
So let others climb the stairway
To the heights of fame and wealth
I’m content to simply be the one I am
To grow old with my companion
And share the dreams of all our children
Til we return to where the world and all began……. The Anointed.

@The Anointed,
ENDLESS LOVE

There are countless lives before us
Like the stars up in the sky
But should the cord be cut to this one
Should either of us die
Before our separate spirits
Are entwined and bound as one
Forever more would we be parted
But now the bonding has been done.

Now we will know each other
In those lives still yet to be
Though our forms are ever changing
I’ll know you and you’ll know me
We will recognize each other
Passing through life’s endless doors
I will find you in the darkness
Then will our spirits, dance once more.

In the countless lives before us
In each one if you’ll be mine
I will pluck a star from heaven
And in the nights of endless time
I will thread them on eternity
One, for every life we live
Then when the heavens are devoid of light
The universe to you I’ll give.

The Anointed.

These times it's a hard road, ain’t it son?
And a long old way until the race is won
Sometimes you’re tired
And sometimes you’re wired
And I hope you sometimes have some fun

It ain’t just feathered wings makes a bird to fly
It’s knowing he’s ready makes him even try
Sometimes he stalls
Sometimes he falls
yet flits back into the sky

And sometimes it seems you’re all alone
You’ll find me cheering from my paternal zone
Though words might fail
May love prevail
If not this brass ring then another one

It ain’t just feathered wings makes a bird to fly
It’s knowing he’s ready makes him even try
Sometimes he stalls
Sometimes he falls
Yet flits back into the sky

I’m not the parent you might have had
In every family’s some good and then some bad
Be your own man
And not your old man
Set your own terms and make both of us glad

After all

It ain’t just feathered wings makes a bird to fly
It’s knowing he’s ready makes him even try
He soars over walls
However tall
The thrill the knowing soaring through the sky

@Ragman,
MY ANGEL.

I’ve walked with and I’ve talked with an angel
He picks me up each time that I fall down
He’s one who knows and understands my heartaches
For just like me, he himself had fallen down
But like the serpent Moses lifted in the desert
He himself was lifted up upon a tree
Now he sits beside our Father in His kingdom
Where he intercedes with God for fools like me ….. The Anointed

@The Anointed,
THE CENTRE.

Of all the stars in heaven
And the space that lays between
It's centre is the planet of my birth,
And, as earth's horizon stretches outward
At equal distance from my throne
Then I hold the central point upon the earth.

As light and sound need time to carry
All their messages to me
My senses tell me, all has run it's race
And everything that's happened,
Has happened in my past
So, I hold the highest point in time and space.

A primitive concept some might say,
And a view that leads to sin.
But perhaps, we all were made this way,
To discover, "God Within."....... The Anointed.

@The Anointed,
KNOCKING ON YOUR DOOR

Pick me up Lord I’ve fallen down again
I’m so tired of trying to be a better man
The spirit’s willing, flesh is weak
And I can’t turn the other cheek
So here I am knocking on your door again

Yes, here I am Lord and I’m knocking on your door
Just like I’ve done so many times before
My whole life it’s in a shamble
I’m caught up in briars and brambles
And that’s why, I’m knocking on your door

Every time my world comes crashing in
And I’m weighed down with so much guilt and sin
I just fall down on my knees
And I beg with cries and tears
Oh Lord, wont you take me back again

How many times before did I repent
‘Cause I couldn’t stand the pain and punishment
I always run to you for help
Like some winging whining welp
Like now when to prison I’ve been sent

But this time dear Lord I’m true and blue
And you know that I’d never lie to you
So, help me out this one last time
And I won't turn back to my crimes
I’ll dedicate my life to being true
I’ll be good this time my Lord, I promise you..... The Anointed.

@The Anointed,
INTRODUCTION
I’d like to thank all those who came
To hear the poems and yarns we tell
Now settle back, enjoy your beer
While we take you on a ride through hell.
Through war, where Satan’s angels sing,
You’ll see pictures drawn by a poet’s pen
Of busted torn and twisted things
That once we knew as our young men.

And though we weep for those who died;
who now rest among God’s hosts,
It’s those who came through hell alive
For them we weep the most.
Those tortured souls who sweat at night
Who toss and turn and wake in fright,
With trembling hands that spill the rum—
Then drink until their brains grow numb.

Or the loved ones of our gallant sons
Whose blood was shed for everyone.
The wives, the children, for these we cry:
For the mums who felt their young boys die.
T’was not in vain that they gave birth
And offered up for peace on earth
Their sons, whose blood has set us free
Who will ever live in our memory…… The Anointed.

A proseletyte called annointed
With prose mangled, disjointed.
Once kicked off a2k
Came back for a day
And now everyone's disappointed.

(I note that on his return from exile the first things he posted were attacks on me. I never realised how obsessed he was until now.)
