Over my time here in A2K, I find it fascinating to see how many different ways in which we define ourselves from a religious perspective so I thought perhaps it would be interesting to see how well we know each other.

From the pool of regular or indeed Historic A2K characters, provide a Limerick based on that persons belief system as you see it (of course all in good spirit)

First up, I'd like to take on our dear Frank!(Frank Apisa)

A man who believes he knows all
Is more than likely a fool
For all this believin'
is just plain deceiving
So I'll stick to not knowing at all

Smile

@Smileyrius,
Yes. Even that tower at Pisa,
Would invite ‘putting straight’ by that geezer.
For all with a leaning,
Would be prone to redeeming,
By ex-priestly leaner, Apisa.

@Smileyrius,
Hello again my Christian brother. How is everything on your side of the universe? Good to see you again on A2k. I read your discussion post and thought, thats rather confrontational for the Smileyrius personality. Hmmm? I don't call my perception a religion because the meaning of this word contradicts my understanding that I am not guessing, and that I actually know that my Christian ideology is correct, not blind belief or faith which the word religion associates with. As a Christian I think whatever perception one chooses whether it be atheism, theism or whatever, and it keeps them well and happy, then it must be all good. After all, being well and happy is the main objective to which perception we choose. I just hope Frank's perception keeps him well and happy. You have a well and happy day my brother.

@Amoh5,
Believers are those who avoid
The chance that their lives are a void.
Some have their own versions,
Some seek other’s conversions,
With arguments logic devoid.

@fresco,
Very good:

Naysayers are those who have needs
For reason to license their deeds
And while formulating
Some fine obfuscating
They weave the most cryptic of screeds

@neologist,
Thankyou !

But, most cryptic of all is to say,
“God moves in a mysterious way”
For this catches all
On whom logic would call
To undermine blatant hearsay.

There was a believer named neologist from Nantucket.....

Well, that says enough, I guess. The rest is easily predictable.

A layman swam in from Grand Cayman
Who we at first thought was OK, man.
But when he derided
His friends, we decided
To filet him in our sauté pan

We sold our old condo to Fresco
But while the deal was in escrow
He waxed philosophic
But we're not philanthropic
His musing just made it a no go

Very Happy

@neologist,
My apologies ! But in my experience....

Condos in Fort Lauderdale
Look out on a vista of sail.
And seeing boats wandering,
The mind sets to pondering
'Better cruising than beached like a whale !'

Jeez!

I'll give a limerick a try later.

But at limericks I ain't good.

(Although "try later" made me think of "masturbator." )

@Smileyrius,
I must say I have no beef
with those with religious belief
but when they make the claim
that science and religion are the same
then I have to respond, "oh, good grief".

@Smileyrius,
Atheists will, with complete conviction
proclaim God to be no more than fiction,
but believers, with zest,
state that they know best,
since God is in their jurisdiction

Spinoza the renegade Jew
Ruffled a feather or two.
‘No God but existence!’
He said, with persistence.
‘Spin ? No ! Sad, but true!’

A preacher from Tweedle Dee Dee
A doctor of Dee Vin It Tee
While preaching the canons
He blessed all the cannons
And fleeced all the flock, but not me
