These are the times she warned us about
And we won't run around, scream or shout
For two minutes, today
With our silence, we pray
Wrongheadedness will be rooted out.

If "quite" had been used
The line would have fused
And you wouldn't have looked such a goon.

Is the bouncer outside the Old Vic
When he whirls it about to give you a clout
Make sure he misses your dick.

Spendius left us no lead line
So just make up something like mine
While he's no old codger
But a great stick dodger
I'll run with the rythym so fine
Hope Mctag will have a grand trip

Mctag will have a grand trip
He'll ride on a very big ship
If he spews in a bag
It rhymes with Mctag
But watch out if he gives one a rip.

Being only newly hatched
My new roof is barely thatched
With no foundation
Standing ovation
Embracing awe is attached

Coming from France I sailed
With the wind at our tail
Which made the boat go with some zip

Cherbourg was great, I must say
And the weather was sunny all day
while in England it rained
so I'm feeling quite pained
while Chirac crowed hip hip hooray
Chirac doesn't like the anglais

have I misunderstood something? I thought limericks were metered count.....they are fun but, also require a bit more work at keeping the count in balance.....maybe I am off the base and tagged out.

"Off the base and tagged out"...translation please?
The limerick form does have a strict metre, it's true, and some here are better at keeping to it than others.
I think the last couple of efforts were okay, more or less...(he finished limply)
