A limerick's first line is 8 or 9 syllables.

and so his descendants
numbers were resplendent
Who all hated school and loved playing hooky.

:: hehe, I didn't know you guys enforced the strict 9-9-6/7-6/7-9 rule for limericks because I saw plenty of 11-11-5-5-11's and 10-10-7-7-10's here. But okies! I'll stick to the rules from now on, and no more cookie rhymes! Smile

do you guys follow the meter rules too? like, da-da-daah da-da-daah da-da-daah for the 9 syl lines and (da)da-da-daah da-da-daah for the 6/7 syl lines? ::

We know the rules, most of us, but we love freedom too. Freedom to be bad. Laughing

The mathematician drank some coffee
and drooled on his dead wife Soffee
Soffee my dear wife
You've departed this life
So who will be getting my tea?

And the tapas you ate
Made the evening a blooming bonanza.

Believe it or not,
And his pronunciation is maimed.
