This is not the time for sympathies to Packer fans Gus... this is the time to kick them when they're down.

First shut out since 1991... when the mighty Bears did it to them then too!!!

Yes, I saw that jpin, and I didn't respond because I was so embarrassed to have shown a sign of weakness and actually offer compassion to cheeseheads that I didn't feel worthy of your company.

Whoa! I guess you're right on that count, jpin.

Jespah's choice for the total of this game - 17 - looks closest so far...

Is Rothel... still in the game? (I like the other guy.) I've only seen the score, 4th quarter, about 5 minutes to go, 6 - 0 Jaguars. Talk about a defense display. Grrrrr.

It's over, now I'm 13-3, I presume. Good enough, I'll need it, I'm going to be 0-14 on the next round, or close enough.

For Week #2:

Region and Johnboy finish at 15-1! The tiebreaker is used only between/amongst the folks tied for 1st. While Johnboy's pick of 46 hardly qualifies as beng close to the 9 actually scored, it was closer than Region's 54. So Johnboy wins the week. There is an expression that I had long forgotten that I think goes: Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

A couple of comments. Last year, with a dozen or so players, the Winner of the Week, as I recall, was distributed pretty evenly with no one dominating. Most folks had one; a few had two. I think, but I might be wrong, that Cowdoc had the most. I am happy to have my week of glory.
I don't expect to repeat.
Region typically chooses the same number, 27, as the total points. You should have stuck to the script, Region.

At 15-1 were Region and JohnBoy.
14-2: Chiso.
13-3: Osso.
12-4: LionTamer, Cowdoc, George, JPinMilw, JPB, Pantalones and Kickycan.
11-5: Edgar, Jespah, Sublime, McGentrix and Kickycan.
10-6: Child of the Light.
and
7-9: Fbaezer.

I seem to be hearing that this week's games are going to be pretty challenging. I haven't really studied it yet.

For the Year To Date Standings (YTD), I take the number of correct picks that each player has made and divide by the number of games the player has picked in. The notion is to not severely penalize players who miss picking for a week. This is the first year I have done it this way so I am still tinkering with what the threshold should be. Right now I am at 50% of the 32 games played in Week #1 + Week #2.

In 1st place is Region with a winning percentage of .781
2nd: Liontamer at .750
3rd: Osso, Cowdoc, George and JPB at .718
7th: Johnboy and Chiso at .687
9th: Kickycan at .656
10th: Edgar, JPinMilw, Jespah, Pantalones, Child and McGentrix at .625
16th: Sublime at .593
17th: Tico at .562
18th: Fbaezer at .500

Thank you for pointing out the error. Tico was at 12-4, not Kicky who was at 11-5. My YTD standings are off a bit, but I am not going to retype them. Kicky drops from 9th into the bunch of folks in 10th. Tico moves from 17th into a tie with Sublime for 16th.

For some reason Kicky and I are frequently confused (although he's far more confused than I).

Here, this may help .... just remember Kicky is the one with the girly cigarette.
