I have found quite enough liberals here, thanks. I don't feel the need to go out and find anymore.

Tell me Billw, What is YOUR take on this then? Not as a Liberal, but as an individual? I said how I felt about it, feel free to illuminate me on your opinion.

Posting an article related to the subject at hand does in no way mean that the person agrees with any or all of what it contains. Too many a2k'ers seem to think that posting means agreement. And are called upon to defend it. Just thought I would add my 2 cents.

Well, they already pay no federal income taxes, though some now seem that even paying no income tax is not enough and now want to pay them out of tax receipts from other actual taxpayers.

Then why post it? Especially with no commentary about disagreeing with it? I would assume (I know what happens) that if a user posts an article, they want people to read it and comment on it. Otherwise, keep it to yourself.

The Washington Post sees it, do you? (bold mine)
Quote:
Democrats Assail GOP on Child Tax Credit
Congressional Democrats, sensing a political opportunity in an otherwise dry season, have launched a furious assault on Republican lawmakers and the Bush administration over a provision in the just-passed tax cut package that deprives millions of low-income families of a tax break for children.

They also managed to work this fact in:
Quote:
Under the new legislation, those families earning about $10,000 to about $27,000 would not receive the full $400 checks that will be sent this summer. This is because the increased child credit was not made "refundable" -- or turned into a cash payment -- for those who do not pay enough in income taxes to benefit from the credit.

Of course, they managed to avoid coming straight out and writing, "You can't refund something to someone who paid nothing." I recognize bias in the twisted language they chose to use to make such a simple point, but if you are a liberal, I'm sure you'll disagree. Cool

Probably because you think everything here is a fight, come in with your dukes up, and are frustrated when some goddamn liberal takes a liberal point of view -- liberal meaning willing to consider new ideas. Suggest maybe it's time for McG to "keep it to yourself."

There you have it, McG; before you respond to anything anyone posts, you'd better ask first to see if they:

A) Wanted you to read it, or just posted it here as a means of storing it for later retrieval.

B) Wants to discuss it, or just hoped to encourage quiet contemplation of the topic.

C) Wants to hear specifically from you, and if so, to what extent.

See that? I was confused this whole time about this being a DISCUSSION forum! I can see now how I was confused about that.

I guess I should start being more careful about having discussions here. Thanks for the warning Scrat!

If I wanted a conservative point of view, I would go to a different forum. I expect people to have Liberal views here as that is the predominant membership here. I enjoy the different opinions when I can identify them through the quagmire of nonsense and pointless jabs.

Why post It? Simple many times it adds to the discussion it may be another viewpoint. That I should think would have been quite obvious. By the way I was not aware that you set the rules on what and why and how something should be posted.
In addition that I don't appreciate your nasty tone. Suggest you drop it

Are you threatening me? Or are you threatened by me? Which is it, because the only nastiness I see is being spewed by you.

I suggest you need a better understanding of the English language. Apparently you believe to suggest is to threaten. Or do you believe anyone making a suggestion is threatening you. That would seem to be slightly paranoid.

Actually, threats as with money don't work very well over the internet - seems to be a great equalizer!

I will give your suggestions the consideration they deserve.

Shall we get back to the topic of the tax cut, or are you going to continue with the "suggestions"?

Well sure Tartarin, there are quite a few military families with children who are not eligible for the tax cut 'cause they don't make enough money to pay taxes in the first place. so not only do they not get any of our hard earned $$ they continue to volunteer for poverty level income while dying for Rumsfeld/Bush. Now thats what i call patriotism. ?????

Hey, Dys. Fair's fair. Poor's poor. Why should we care about them? I figure being a citizen in the US means it's all about ME.

Whose 'Class Warfare'?

Let's have a real debate about class in America. That's just what the people screaming "class warfare" fear most, so bring it on.

President Bush's recent tax proposal is warmed-over Reaganomics spiced with enough audacity, he hopes, to hide the rot. Economists, pols and pundits have panned it, even some conservative ones.

The [tax] plan "may be the least defensible policy ever," one critic, an advisor to GOP administrations since Nixon, told The Washington Post's David Broder...

Dys - Military pay is only "poverty-level" on paper. Then you factor in meals, health care, housing allowances, etc. and they are pretty well compensated for their efforts.

Except of course for the debt of gratitude we owe them. That money can't replace.
