Ah, I bet it's all over and done by now.
The West Coast is three hours behind the Eastern Seaboard, so 11:30 in Portland is 2:30 here.
The ordeal officially starts in 45 minutes--providing that the social worker isn't late.
I think it started at noon EST -- boomer said "T -1" at about 11:00 AM EST.
I can picture the Boomer family breezing through, being charming, intelligent and confident, no matter what's going on in the hidden nerves department.
It's over!!!!!
Yeah!!!
It went really really well. It was a very in depth interview. Wow. Serious stuff. I think we did good.
The shehooligans showed up about halfway through the interview and I thought "Uh-oh" but even that turned out to be a good thing because she got to see that he has friends and how he gets along with others, etc.
Thank you all so much for keeping vigil. When I got nervous I imagined my cheering squad. It really helped.
Thank you. Thank you.
Knew it, I just knew it!! But I also went WHEW!
Yay Boomer.
Thank god, I was about to turn blue!
Congrats to all the Boomers in Boomerville!
Woo-hoo!
Surprised, no, happy, yes!
Wonderful!
We should all start celebrating--medium low-calorie, of course.
Big Whew, fabulous!!!
What a pleasure to hear..
I am SO glad that is over.
I just got off of the phone with my sister (who has called three times today) for the big debriefing and I could just feel the stress slipping away as we spoke.
I think I could lay down and sleep for the rest of the day.
The interview was a lot more complicated than I expected. Very detailed. I found myself wondering how people who had not had a kid living in their home for years already would ever answer many of those questions.
I can't get over how well Mo behaved. Chatting with the social worker, giving her a tour of our house and yard, showing off his prized dirt pile, introducing the dogs. He was so lovely.
We hadn't coached him beyond "We're having a guest over. She will want to talk to you some and talk to us some. Okay?"
He was really instrumental in pulling the whole thing off.
Thanks again, everybody!
So...when is the i dotting and the t crossing?
YAY!
And, yes, when do you hear back from her or whoever?
We are hoping to have it all finished by the time school starts in September but honestly it could be as long as six months.
The social worker has to write up and file the report and our attorney has to file the adoption. The court has to review it. If all this takes a long time there might have to be a second home visit.
The social worker thought she should be able to get the report done right away but cautioned that if a placement came up that it could go on the back burner for a bit. I know our attorney is ready to go.
Fingers crossed that everything gets done quickly!
