Cookies! I'll be right over.

Do keep fresh carrot sticks and other veggies in the frig whether you eat them or not. I'll take the cookies off your hands as soon as the social worker leaves. Wouldn't want that yummy smell to fade while she's there.

Thinking of you and humming, "Ohmmm, ohmmm."

Oh, I didn't know this was going on-- I know you don't need it because it's so obvious what a fantastic home you've given Mo, but I'll be wishing you luck anyway...

<lots of good vibes comin atcha right now from California way> Very Happy

Jespah, I love that song and that scene from Dumbo so much...made me tear up to read those lyrics-- lovely of you to think of posting that. Smile

Like most people in Oregon, I don't have air conditioning. It is in the 80s today though so I don't think I'll be turning on the oven.

I do have the perfect makings for some banana muffins in the morning though!

And coffee, for sure!

I have a garden full of fresh peas and baby carrots should the need arise for a healthy snack. Our fridge in overstuffed with things for the 4th of July neighborhood cookout.

I'm the dingbat who scheduled this thing for tomorrow morning. I knew Mr. B was taking the day off anyway and we had the weekend to pull some last minute things together. Maybe she'll be in a hurry to get started on the holiday and not stick around too long!

She indicated that this should be an easy visit since Mo has lived here for so long -- our house is obviously child-proofed and safe. We have consent from both of his parents. We had really good recommendations. Our criminal and financial history are clean. We're certified to be in good health from our doctors.

We love Mo.

Mo loves us.

I know we're in good shape.

I know she is mostly interested in our "values". And I'm worried that maybe our values are very different from hers. But she works for an adoption agency and we are adopting so.......

I think we're in good shape.

That social worker is going to be in and out of your house in 30 minutes,
I guarantee it (unless she's socializing with you).

At this point it is just a formality for her report.

Fifteen minutes before she arrives, unplug the television set, move it to the center of the living room floor and hand Mo a screwdriver.

Values.

Will she have any fingernails left by the time the visitor arrives?

Will Mo come in from the garden?

Will Mr. B. wear his customer T&A shirt during the visit?

Awwww! You all are the best!

I confess to being nervous.

We all stayed up too late last night hunting rabbits with the rabbit sanctuary lady and then had improptu fireworks fun with the under-10 and over - 30 neighborhood irregulars.

Then, of course, I was up at 4:30.

But the poop is scooped, the rose bushes are tamed, the banana muffins have just entered the oven and I have pulled a fresh pair of Converse from my stash.

I'm as ready as I'll ever be.

T -1.

Thanks for holding my hand. I'll be sure to let everyone know how it went ASAP.

ACK! That shirt! Mr. B might be a doofus but he isn't brain dead. He knows better than to bring that shirt around here.

His customers loved it though.

Lesson learned: never underestimate the immaturity of men.
